I know we have the Merry Christmas thread but I thought be nice to have a thread for specifically gifts and what you got for Christmas.
I think most people so far have been putting those in the New deliveries thread. But itās still a nice idea.
I got The Giggle novelisation, Made of Steel, Autonomy, Origins, pin badges of Sil and āChange, my dear!ā, TARDIS socks, TARDIS T-shirt, oh, and the amazing Fifteen and Ruby figures (online exclusive versions).
Is that what the Collections look like in the US?
Yeah. Itās not āSeason Xā, itās āDoctor Actor: Season Xā. So Season 17 (the season I got) is Tom Baker: Season 6.
Thatās interesting, I didnāt know they looked like that.
Iāve not got any yet. I may get some when visiting family after work tomorrow.
The Doctor Who: Classic channel gave me a copy of āThe Evil of the Daleksāā¦
My dad just gave me money with the specific obligation to spend it on Big Finish lol
I also got a $25 Visa Gift Card. Debating what to get with it, whether to put towards Big Finish or maybe another Collection set or a book. The problem is Iām not entirely sure how to use it AND my Debit Card if my order exceeds the $25.
A lot of books for me this year, including Prisoner of the Daleks, The Book of the Enemy and Weapons Grade Snake Oil (faction paradox), as well as a fair bit of money which will most likely all go to pre-ordering Big Finishes January releases
Lots of books (Not limited just to Doctor Who)
The Starter Set and Rulebook for the Second Edition of Doctor Who: The Roleplaying Game
Looooooots of Big Finish
The Taskmaster Boardgame
Taskmaster VR
I didnāt get any Who-related Christmas gifts, and have only ever received about 2 of them in my life.
I think itās a combination of:
- Not-weās donāt have a clue what to buy or what I might like
- They donāt know if I already have it or not
How do you get non-fans to buy you stuff? Do you just make a list for them?
Obviously thereās a list!
Yeah, I provide a list. But then again, Iāve always provided a list.
I get how providing a list is very useful, it can prevent disappointment, and make Christmas go really smoothlyā¦ butā¦
I kinda think it takes away some of the magic of receiving gifts if you already know what it will be.
You may as well just buy yourself the gift lol.
Is it any surprise that in our household we donāt really do gifts, just little things like smellies and candles, and we only give gifts to the young ones (which are surprises!)
Iāve always provided a list, but I also know that Iām probably only getting one or two of the things on it. So for me, the surprise is discovering which items on the list Iām actually getting.
Donāt have a list, but donāt have presents either.
Historically, I am rather difficult to shop for, because I tend to already have a lot of the stuff Iām interested in.
