You'll forgive me if I join you

Having been lurking for quite a while due to personal circumstances, it seemed sensible to do an introduction post, particularly as I may be meeting some of you at the gathering between the two performances of ‘The Stuff of Legend’.

My interest in a certain Time Lord began when I first watched the Sixth Doctor at around ten, and was increased when I met and became friends with @deltaandthebannermen of this parish at school, and helped edit his fanzine ‘Temporal Paradox’ which I am unsure whether it actually saw print. (I certainly remember about ten different drafts of Issue 1).

My DW claims to fame are:

  1. You can see me in the audience in the programme announcing Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.
  2. I once attended a friend’s wedding dressed as the Sixth Doctor (she did ask me to!)

I am a big fan of the Sixth Doctor (someone has to be), and of any new WHO content whatever media or whoever it stars.

My other big obsession is Sherlock Holmes - another British asexual character getting into trouble with their (ongoing) companion - and I even appear in DK’s ‘The Sherlock Holmes Book’ as an example of what a SH fan looks like. (Trivia: Eight actors have played both the Doctor and Holmes)

Welcome indeed! You are not the only fan of ol’ Sixie. There are a good number on here. I really enjoy Colin’s Doctor and am so delighted that Big Finish has enabled him to show time and again (and then some) the huge potential he was barely able to develop on screen.

I am also very much a fan of Sherlock Holmes (from the Conan Doyle tales, via the Jeremy Brett series, to the Moffat/Gatiss series - and other iterations). I think there are many of us in the DW community. Have you listened to the Big Finish audio Holmes stories? I love 'em to bits!

Anyway, you won’t need this I’m sure, given your friendship with @deltaandthebannermen but should you ever have any questions, I’m happy to help.

Welcome, once more, to the best and friendliest Doctor Who community in the APC Net, sorry… the Matrix… I… I mean, on the internet!

A warm welcome to you! Nice to have you joining us! I guess your all-time favourite episode is Delta and the Bannermen (you couldn’t be @deltaandthebannermen’s friend otherwise, right?).

Welcome! Looking forward to meeting you in person in a few weeks, and especially so if you can share some embarrassing stories about @deltaandthebannermen because he has teased me enough and it’s payback time!!

You. Are. Forgiven.

Love Sixie myself. Actually find little to like in his TV stories, but I think he absolutely shines on audio.

Glad to have you here.
