This is the thread for telling of your various travels, travel dreams, travel tips or just showing off cool travel videos or pictures. Where in the world have you traveled? Where would you like to travel to?
I’ve done a little traveling over the years. I’m an American and my home state is Washington. I’ve traveled a little within the USA, visiting Massachusetts (have family there), New Hampshire (friends of family), Vermont briefly (drove over the border on our way from Massachusetts to New Hampshire), Connecticut (flew in there and drove to Massachusetts), Oregon (have family there), Idaho (friends of family), North Carolina (friends of family), and Florida (friends of family). Visited the airports only for flight transfers: Texas (Dallas), Missouri (St. Louis) and Colorado (Denver).
Outside of the USA, I’ve been to Canada (I live near the border), Japan (airport only), Philippines (Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and surrounding villages), and Dominican Republic (for a mission trip).
I don’t travel a ton but I’ve mainly stayed in the US. I’ve visited a lot of states (Utah, Idaho, California, Montana, Wyoming and New York). Over the last 2 years I’ve been to Canada a few times; Victoria, Jasper, and Banff. Almost all of them we’ve been to because of the national parks since my family likes to go to them. We have friends in Idaho but haven’t visited them since Covid. We’ve been to Utah and Wyoming the most.
I would like to visit the UK sometime but that’s probably a long ways away.
It’s moments like seeing this thread title that make the internet worthwhile.
(I run the world’s oldest and largest extant Carmen Sandiego fansite.)
Against my better judgment, I’ve been visiting England on a yearly basis since 2021. I wasn’t going to go this year and maybe go to mainland Europe and/or Sweden instead, but then I found out The Corrs were doing a mini-tour, so, that’s that. Other than that, outside the US, I’ve been to Paris (generally meh but the Eiffel Tower at night was incredible and I cried), Montréal (meh), and Québec City (gorgeous).
Within the US, my most significant trips have been to NYC, but I’m hoping to visit Chicago soon (for a job interview!). I’ve also been to Cincinnati and Cleveland and all around my home state of Michigan, and on day trips to Portsmouth, NH and Portland, ME.
Another United Statesian here. I was born and grew up in various areas in California, with a brief sojourn in Colorado. Lived in Nevada most of the rest of my life.
I’ve visited Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, and Hawaii in the past. Think I’ve been to Michigan. Quite possible I’ve passed through other states (probably Utah, for example). And my dad does live in Texas, but haven’t been there yet.
Don’t have a passport, so I’ve never been outside the country.
Yeah, I think I’m a bit too young to know that theme. I played some of the video games and watched the animated TV series (the one with the theme sung to Mozart [Singt dem großen Bassa Lieder] and The Chief voiced by Squidward).
Country wise (excluding the two I’ve lived in) I’ve been to England, Wales, Spain, Iceland, America (Chicago) and Germany (although that was just over the border for a theme park but I guess it counts!)
Once I get my visa I really want to go back to Iceland it was so incredible!!
Only visited New Zealand, and that was just to visit family, being an island in the middle of nowhere certainly limits my vacation options .
I would like to visit Gallifrey One at least once before they change over, although the cost to fly to the other side of the world isn’t the only issue .
I think it would be nice to visit Europe, probably the UK because I at least speak the language, but France would also be another lovely place.
I’ve never been much of a globetrotter growing up, always prefering to stay in Australia, but I think studying history as an adult has helped me gain an appreciation for those pesky northern hemispherers.
Well, I live in Germany, and the other country I’ve spent the most time in is France. I lived with a host family in Brittany for six months when I was sixteen, which was a really good experience. I’m still in contact with them, and have visited them twice since. I’ve also been to the Netherlands a few times on holidays to The Hague and Amsterdam since that’s not too far from where I live in Germany. And Austria on a skiing and later a school trip. Technically also Belgium, but only on the way to France, so that doesn’t count to me
I’m from the UK. I’ve been to Luxembourg, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy and the former Yugoslavia (Slovenia and Croatia, mainly). That sounds more impressive than it really is; you can knock off several countries in one day if you go to central europe. I’ve popped over to Ireland and gone to Australia several times. Due to an accident of birth and world war two, my dad was born there. I’ve also been to Indonesia and Thailand, and I’ve had brief stopovers in Malaysia, South Korea and Japan, although, those were admittedly in airport hotels, so you don’t pick up much local culture or sights there. Since I decided to give up flying for environmental reasons, and since my health declined, I’ve not left the UK since 2009.
One of the things I regret most about my health condition is that it makes travel almost impossible. There’s too much planning involved and I still have to take quite a hit healthwise to do it. I miss visiting new places and would love to travel again, although I’d want to go by surface means, mainly train and boat. I’d love to go round the world by train and ship, but that seems unlikely now.
I’ve never been to the US, and certainly wouldn’t dream of going there until it is run by a less scary regieme. I do like to see new places, although I fear that I’m now too used to living at home that I might not manage the adjustments needed to see how people do things differently in different places. I’ve been to a couple of places that don’t have flush toilets and I didn’t cope with that very well. I probably like my creature comforts more than I’d like to admit.
I hope that I’ll be able to travel again one day.
@DarthGallifrey should the topic’s title be changed from ‘Word’ to ‘World’?

I took the executive decision and changed it
Tbh I thought it was just a clever word pun because this is a text based forum .
I’m from Finland. Most of my travels abroad have been to Sweden and Estonia (obviously). Both are just a ferry trip over the pond. I’ve been to both countries multiple times.
My first trip abroad was when I was six, and my grandparents took my family to Portugal to celebrate their 60th birthday. I don’t remember a lot from that trip other than the fact that my cousin and I both fell ill during it.
I’ve been to Greece, specifically Crete, with my family once.
I’ve been to Germany three or four times. My aunt and cousins live in Bonn, so that’s where I’ve been a couple of times. I also joined a school trip to Berlin 12 years ago!
Speaking of school trips, my first and only visit to the UK was via the Comenius project. I lived with a host family in London (Barking) and got acquainted with pupils from the UK, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.
My local parish organised a youth trip to Latvia to visit a parish we had been helping out a lot. I joined the trip, and it was one of my first times seeing firsthand how some people can live in much poorer conditions than I do and how privileged I truly am!
I’ve technically been to Spain, though only the Canary Islands.
My wife and I made a short vacation trip to Gdansk in Poland a few years ago.
And then the best trip I’ve made in my life - Hawaii. My dad had a business conference there and took me and my mother with him, so it was work for him and vacation for us. I was 10 years old at the time, and we spent two weeks there. Absolutely marvellous! I also spent some time in LAX while waiting for a connecting flight, so I’ve sort of been on the mainland US as well
So many places still to see! I’d really want to visit the other Nordic countries one day—Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. France and Italy are a must as well, and I’d love to go to Australia or New Zealand as well. And a return visit to the UK is long overdue!
I’m from the U of K originally, but almost four years ago I packed my bags and moved to Boston USA which is where I still am now. Last year I did a road trip to Canada and ticked that off too.
I’ve travelled a fair bit on top of that, too - France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany in Europe, then I was fortunate enough to do a study abroad year where I lived 6 months in Norway [1] and 6 months in Japan, which was incredible and I miss it a lot. I also visited South Korea while I was there to make the most of it. I’ve also been to Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. I think that’s it!
There are still loads of places I’d love to go, including Australia, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Russia, and more. I love seeing things in the world. I love knowing there’s always more to do, more to learn. The world is so wonderful <3
sorry for the betrayal Scandi gang

Aahh yes, the Union of Kingdoms. Great country!
This is a crime I’m not sure I can forgive you for.
I’m from the UK myself and usually like staying in the UK because overseas travel really stresses me out.
However, my family’s holiday destination for about a decade was Corfu (a Greek island for those not in the know), which I’ll always have fond memories of and I have some family living in Dublin, so I visit them quite often.
Apart from that I’ve been to Spain a couple of times, which were both lovely, Texas to visit some friends who live across the pond and once to Italy, however I somehow managed to go to part of it with no good food (yeah, seems impossible right?) so I’m hoping to go again at some point.
