It started long before @kevinwho foolishly exacerbated it - I’ve got eyes you know.
A story about my date with my lovely wife? I thought that was the purpose of this thread.
What really made my day? Well, I got some lovely feedback about a question I had about pickled herring, that was nice. (I’m still not convinced, but I appreciate the feedback) P.S. Sorry delta!
What didn’t? I’ve been experiencing back pain, which is actually back and leg pain, for three weeks or so now. Finally went to urgent care last night - I’d been patiently waiting for it to feel better, but it’s been persistent. No real answer, probably a muscle strain. Gonna take steroids for a week and avoid tennis, which saddens me, and if that doesn’t help, I’ll get an MRI. In the meantime, it’s painful enough that it makes it rather hard to focus.
Nothing that couldn’t fixed with a bit of pickled herring, I suspect.
Maybe I should change my username to MrPickledHerring, just to annoy @deltaandthebannermen
That wouldn’t annoy me at all.
But I might change my name to ScandinaviansAreWeird.
That’s better!
I always love seeing lots of users on at a time. This is the highest I’ve seen:
I decided not to go to Muay Thai practice anymore today. I only ever meant to try it out for one semester but I’ve been twice and I’m pretty sure it’s just not for me. Feels kind of stupid though, since I paid for the course and boxing gloves (not that much since this is from a students’ association) and it feels wasted. Hoping this is actually the right choice for me
Going to see Charli XcX tonight which I’m very excited for.
There’s been some pretty big problems with the train journey from my university to my parents recently but today it’s been the ■■■■■■■ worst. Part of the connection has been replaced with busses and there’s a lot of trains being late so I was prepared for it to take somewhat longer. But now there was bad information so I missed the train I meant to take (said it was going to be twenty minutes late so I went to get a coffee but in reality it left ten minutes late) and the next train an hour later got cancelled. So now I have to wait ninety minutes at the train station and this will in total take nearly four hours if everything goes well from now on for a journey that’s supposed to take one hour. I’m usually pretty chill with trains being late because I take them a lot and used to it but this is too much even for me
Sorry to hear that. I used to commute when I was a university student, so I sympathise.
I mean it usually goes pretty well and the connection is really quite perfect for me, it’s just that using it every weekend I do tend to catch all the problems, and then it tends to be everything at once, like today. Anyway I’ve now arrived, so I’m much happier. And the good thing is that these longer journeys give me plenty of time to listen, relisten to and think about my weekly gallifrey episode
I used to have long train journeys (3 hours plus) whenever I went home from university at the holidays, oh how I wish I was into Big Finish then! How many stories I would have listened to!!
Instead I listened to my iPod which was probably just Steps
It takes me 30h on a regular train to get home from uni, not including 1.5h on the tue to get to the train station. Now high-speed trains only takes 8 to 10 hours but cost nearly three times so I usually pack audio dramas, books and tv to last over a day, across multiple devices. (An iPad, a MP3 player and two e-reader which is definitely overkill)
30h? Home is on the same planet, right? Longest trip I’ve taken is Philadelphia to Mumbai, and that was, what? 18 hours? Including the layover.
I’m hoping the train journey would be more comfortable than the plane, but that’s still a stunningly long trip. Though I can spend a whole weekend sitting on the couch, reading, listening and watching…so I’m sure I’d enjoy it if I were in the right mood.
Oh it’s on Earth alright. Although I would go to Luna University or the Time Lord Academy if I have the chance! (They do take aliem students during Romana’s presidency, before the civil war break out)
It’s just the regular train’s very slow and stops at every little town. And I for some reason chose to study 1800km away from home.
I never flew long distance but I think the hard sleeper may be better than that… And I do enjoy myself during the trip mostly. I did tried a couple of times to sit my way all 26h on second-class seat. That was definitely some experience
It’s funny, I like riding on trains, and wanted to do a train trip vacation. But when I tried to find a nice touring trip to take I found they all start in places I’d have to fly to. Pretty well defeated the purpose!
Been a lot of years since I looked, though. Maybe by now someone has started one that leaves from Philadelphia.
