Oh I misread; a while left till my 50th consecutive week
Did not make my day: Had to tell @deltaandthebannermen that I was wrong. That ruined my afternoon!
I spent an hour or so teaching a friend’s kid English. Third-grader, lovely kid. I lost track of time. He loves Ultraman and stuff and talks about it just like how I talk about dw. Kinda want to trick him into watching Ncuti’s next season with me in the name of learning English /hj
You should definitely try!
Made My Day: having dinner with my co-workers at an Asian fusion restaurant to say goodbye to one of them, who is moving to a new job next week.
I, like the gentleman I am, did all of that via private message - it is you who has chosen to reveal your inadequacy to a public forum.
Which bit made your day - the food or the co-worker leaving…?
Neither. It’s the fact you cared enough to ask that question
I’m in a film class that uses Star Wars as a framework for talking about the history of sci-fi in American cinema and short film making. Everyone in class had to submit a script for a short Star Wars fan film, then we voted on five scripts to actually produce. My script was one of the five chosen, so I get to actually make the film with a team of people! It absolutely made my day when a girl on our team said she’s really excited she got placed in my group, and that she immediately put it as her top choice when we did voting.
I believe today is now my 50th consecutive day here, woooooo
I slept three hours last night and probably won’t be sleeping much until tomorrow’s afternoon
Went here today. Beautiful place Welkom bij Keukenhof
Ah, you’re not that far away from Rotterdam then! You could come visit me!
Got rejected from a research fellowship I was really hoping to get. Got my hopes up too high as well, so feeling pretty bummed today.
Yep. We’re in Den Haag. Last night.
So, I found out today that my maternal grandmother passed away this morning. She has been unwell for some time, so this was expected, but it still came sooner than I thought.
We weren’t very close in my adult years, but I always spent parts of my childhood summer vacations with her and my grandfather, so I remember her warmly. She was always kind and loving and had a good sense of humour.
The saddest thing is that we had been planning on visiting her during the Easter holidays (she lived seven hours away from us, so we had booked a hotel and rented a car and had all the plans ready for next week), just to have one more opportunity to see her and catch up with her in what would’ve probably been for the last time. And now we never got that chance.
I’m mostly sad for my mother, who’s lost her cat and her mother within the span of a couple of days.
Alas, that’s life, and life goes on! My grandmother has reunited with my grandfather somewhere beyond this dimension. And for me, there’s new Doctor Who to enjoy in just a couple of days!
So sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss, and for your mom’s as well.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
