Thanks to everyone who voted, I think I’ve figured out how I’m gonna do this marathon. The rest of October will be dedicated to the Halloween boxset, as well as finishing off a couple of things like Torchwood series 6 (I’ve also just bought both VamPD boxsets, I’ll see if I can fit them in while it’s still October). Then I’ll dedicate November onwards to the Fifth Doctor marathon, but pace myself rather than going all out. I’ll still listen to new releases as they come out, as well as the odd Torchwood main range story, but the Fifth Doctor boxsets will be my main focus for a few months
Here’s a weird one
So with 5, I’ve seen castrovalva and four to doomsday already, so I’m a bit eh on whether I rewatch one or both or just go onto kinda. So. Poll.
- Rewatch castrovalva and four to doomsday
- Rewatch castrovalva, skip ftd
- Skip both and go straight to kinda
I vote for rewatch!
But I’m biased, as I’ve just started a complete 5th Doctor TV watchthrough and I’ve found it really interesting watching in order for the first time!
I was shocked that Earthshock comes so early in 5’s run!
Closed it before I went to sleep but rewatch it is
thanks everyone
The Ultimate Question I will abide the results of this poll without question.
- Series 1 and 2 of Gallifrey
- Series 1 and 2 of Counter Measures
Me reading this poll: haha easy win for Galli-- *reads second option* oh no…
See I was leaning towards Gallifrey because more Brax (coolest character ever more on that at a later date) but I figured i’d torment you first /j
Why would you do this to SirCarolyn? What’s she ever done to you? ![]()
(I vote for Gallifrey! It’s a lot of fun! Leela! Romana! K9s! Brax! Narvin! Weeeee!)
It’s not actually torment it’s simply that I was curious what she would pick when tested.
It’s an experiment ![]()
At worst I’m callous and at best i’m a scientist.
I’m abstaining. Leela vs Allison… you can’t do that to me…
Unfortunate my numbers are going to be down this quarter…
Oh I know
@TrakeniteAdventuress Pick one Tim Foley Fifth Doctor Story to save and the rest are never released.
You cruel, cruel man.
Mercury is a menace and he must be stopped!!
………………Pursuit of the Nightjar.
Your choice of what you perceive as the higher quality Pursuit of Nightjar over the much higher quantity of the 12 part Hooklight is noted and will serve as valuable data.
You sick f*ck
My gut right now says Merfolk so I keep Foley written Adric, but ask me again later and it’d probably be Nightjar
That’s twice my subjects have experienced significant distress at the posed question. Clearly my sense for these things is immaculate.
I’m not sick in fact I’ve never felt better
this is all a bit btw just in case anyone thinks i’m losing it ↩︎
Pursuit of the Nightjar moved me much more than Hooklight: I still dream of some of the imagery from time to time.
Hooklight wouldn’t even be my second choice! That would be Merfolk Murders…
Then third would be Have I Told You Lately, if we were counting all of Foley’s work.
THEN maybe Hooklight…
Ooh maybe 500 Ways To Leave Your Lover first… I cried like a baby at that one…
THEN Hooklight.
…Unless I can count all of the River Song set Friend of the Family… in which case…
THEN Hooklight.
Man is Foley the goat!
I know.
I listened to Hooklight after listening to only a few of Foley’s stories (All of Time and Space as the highlight) but knowing his reputation, and I was like wow this is brilliant.
And now I’d consider Hooklight as his weakest 5DA, and he’s got so many stories across so many other ranges that are my favourite of that range
If we’re talking great Foley stories, might I dare suggest his best work isn’t even Doctor Who related…[1]? Blake’s 7 The Clone Masters has gotta be one of the best audio series I’ve ever listened to. Other than that I’m team Hooklight all the way
well, Blake’s 7 is technically Doctor Who related as it’s on the TARDIS Guide ↩︎
The idea of more great Tim Foley audios is actually the thing that has most made me consider getting into Blake’s Seven. You may have sold me on this
