What is your most controversial opinion?

Yep, but it’s also a fairly irresistible format, for whatever form/shape it morphs into. [A series where you can change genre every single episode, you can change the format itself, you can recast the leads anytime you want, etc] If the show were cancelled tomorrow, I could imagine a time in a decade or whatever, someone looks back on old formats and has a bold vision for Doctor Who again. Might be in movie form, or book form, or on “TV” (ie. streaming), but hey. We live in an era of endless reboots, reimaginings, adaptations, etc. and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.

To play devil’s advocate - bring it on! Lets wash away all the baggage and continuity, and start fresh, bringing in stuff from the old show but in a completely new way with no pre-existing lore or expectations. The old show would still exist.

I suspect this would be a minority opinion in current fandom.

The Day of the Doctor is overrated.

Is that controversial?

Probably, though I see it fairly often. I think it’s an incorrect statement, but I see it.

I love The Day of the Doctor (although the year it won the DWM poll was wholly because people were still caught up in 50th anniversary fever - it won’t ever win a poll like that again).

I’m sure it still does very well though, probably top 10ish

Midnight is kind of overrated.

Now that is a good answer to this topic.

Midnight is a masterclass in tension and how ordinary people react to stressful situations.

Beyond that, the skill of Tennant and Sharp in those dialogue skills is hugely impressive.

I know some who find the episode overwhelming, but I think that just goes to show how well done it is.

I suppose my other hot take is that I rated Heaven Sent a 7/10

No really it’s my fault for entering into a controversial opinions thread, I can handle thinking Doctor Who should go on break, I can handle midnight being called overrated, but calling Heaven Sent a 7/10 episode is TOO FAR :rage:. /j

Jk I can see why some people don’t think it’s a masterpiece, and a 7/10 is perfectly fair

Hey, Lucifer! We have another one coming; make space!

There’s a special place in the afterlife for our darling Heaven Sent haters.

We call it HELL SENT.
