Sorry, couldn’t not do that
I thought TROA, and the Long Song, were kind of rubbish when I first saw it but on a rewatch I loved them. 11’s speech is still annoying but other than that I like the episode!
I am VERY conflicted, on paper I SHOULD love this Story, but there are many Things which bother me here, I wish the World building got more Time to flesh out. Really, one of my biggest Point of Criticism with a lot of New Who is that it would need just a bit more Time, and this one is a Prime Example. I love the World building that we have gotten here, and yet I desire there to be more. The Speech at the end is honestly one of my least liked ones, like yeah when you hear it, it sounds cool, but after a while it falls a bit flat for me. The Story itself feels weirdly over- and undercooked, like there could be more done with it or even lesser done with it. It’s an Episode which you either love for its ambition or hate for what it doesn’t, for me, I always change my Mind on it when rewatching it, but overall I never quite can pinpoint down that I hate or love it.
Anddd I am rambling again, amazing woo!
I hated Akhaten on first viewing but I’ve softened towards it since. The leaf stuff is bollocks though.

One of the few 7B Stories which I can comfortably say: “I quite like it”. It’s not a Story that makes me jump whenever it’s mentioned, but very enjoyable thanks to our Leads being on point, the Ice Warrior being such a good presence throughout it and having David Warner in it!
Story I want to love but I just. don’t. It’s not a bad episode, it just doesn’t work for me
Literally an episode that I barely remember.
Like most of Series 7, it was just fine.
My favourite 7B story. It’s a simple base under siege story but it works really well. Setting is great, I think Skaldak is a strong and imposing villain, the Professor is a fun side character and 11 gets pushed to a scary point. He nearly has to do something like the end of the Time War, he’s at a scary limit.
Today marks 12 years since “A Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS” aired what are your thoughts on this story?
A solid 1/5 story. Such a wasted idea. (Couple of pretty visuals, though.)
I love that they did an episode set in the tardis.
I actually still have to watch this one. I guess the anniversary of it first airing is the best excuse to sit down and give it a try! I’ll have to do that tonight.
truly abysmal story with so much wasted potential
JttCotT is actually one of my favourite 7B stories. Very cool premise where we get to see the interior of the TARDIS again. Plenty of esoteric and weird rooms that are very Time Lord-y, and I quite enjoyed the plot. 4.5/5 don’t @ me
A Town Called Mercy because of its DS9-esque reworking of old-school Westerns, and Rings Of Akhaten because, dammit, I’m a sucker for stories about storytelling. It’s why Eleventh is my Doctor, and Moffat’s tenure as showrunner is my favourite in terms of aesthetics.
It’s a fantastic episode and one of my favorites from the series
Great concept, bad Episode. I really just can’t get behind this one.
You me!
I also adore Rings of Akhaten. It brings me such joy. It’s also such a vibrant alien world, something we dot get enough of in Who: so many species all together!
