- Asylum of Daleks
- Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
- A Town Called Mercy
- Power of Three
- The Angels Take Manhattan
- The Bells of St.John
- The Rings of Akhaten
- Cold War
- Hide
- Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS
- Crimson Horror
- Nightmare in Silver
- Name of the Doctor
Voted two probably controversial ones. The Power of Three (because of the issues w the villain actor dragging the story down) but I just love the vibes and the story as a whole. Also IMO The Crimson Horror is Gatiss’ best New Who story! I adore it, apart from that one abysmal, ABYSMAL scene, which really drags it down.
If we included S7V though… It’d be two from that
7b doesn’t suck - there I said it! Is it wobbly? No more so than some other series’, but yes, I’ll give you that. But it’s not as dreadful as some make it out to be and Clara isn’t as bland and characterless as some claim and this is a hill I will die on
Voted for two for each Half: I think 7A has its peak with Town Called Mercy, meanwhile I really like Hide from 7B.
Cold War and Power of Three are fun as well! Would be probably my second Choice here for each Half.
yeah im not letting you get off so easy
really like Hide until that twist, wasnt really a fan of it.
While I can see why that is, honestly I think the subversion works really well here and makes the Story much more memorable to me at least.
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS is one of my all time favourite episodes, I love episodes that demonstrate how weird and esoteric the TARDIS is as a machine, plus I didn’t mind the brothers subplot. I just like Hide, it’s a neat concept, also it’s rare to see the Doctor face a situation that genuinely terrifies him, great series overall.
Hard for me to vote for two in a different way on this season… this is probably my least remembered season. Don’t know that I have any favorites, particularly, though I could probably pick out a least favorite. (Bells)
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship has Mark Williams, at least, and I like him…
I love series 7 so this was extremely tough. I ended up picking Name of the Doctor and Rings of Akhaten.
love those 2 picks.
The Angels Take Manhatten is my favourite. The angels are wonderfully creepy, the beginning switching between present and 30s is really clever, and I love River in it. The ending is of course devastating. Also, I have vivid memories of watching this for the first time while staying home sick from school – it was my first ever 11th Doctor episode and since then it’s always felt like a real comfort story for me.
The Snowmen isn’t technically part of s7, but if it was included here I’d vote for it too.
Ooh see I’d say the Snowmen is! Didn’t even notice it being gone
I know The Name of the Doctor gets a bad rap but I just have great memories when I first saw it, and I had so much hype before that. Plus it’s emotional and clever and leads to the best episode yet.
I also really liked The Angels Take Manhattan.
Did I only just realise these are the only two stories with River in? Yes.
Does that influence my decision? Also yes.
We woz robbed.
This exchange feels weak to me, almost like Moffat chucked it in to weedily explain why River wouldn’t stay on board for a bit:
RIVER: What matters is this. Doctor, don’t travel alone.
DOCTOR: Travel with me, then.
RIVER: Whenever and wherever you want. But not all the time. One psychopath per TARDIS, don’t you think? Okay.
Imagine a Series 7B with River tagging along for a few adventures. Could’ve been fun.
That line killed me.
Oh what we could have had!!
And then no-one could say she isn’t a companion lol
Do any of you miss these kind of minisodes, imagine if we had more of these in RTD2
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Rings of Akhaten. Really solid stories, but looking at the lineup now, there’s not that many I necessarily dislike.
To be honest, most of the time when I see this Point being brought up, it’s in similar vain as with the Brig and Kate, who both are in a weird Place, where I can see that Argument. But then again, there is no harm done when somebody refers to the Brig or River as a Companion, so I don’t see much of a Reason why this that much of an Argument to begin.
Sorry, just thought I add my two cents to the mix. Personally speaking, who is and isn’t a Companion can be flexible in my Eyes, I mean there are some People who consider Astrid a Companion, even if I do disagree with that View, but you do you
Also, yeah I do miss the Minisodes, but then again I doubt we will ever get as many as we got back when Matt was the Doctor (I swear he has like 25 Minisodes )
Going with Angels take Manhattan (wonderfully heartbreaking) and power of three (for the fun elements mostly. Love that montage of eleven stuck on earth)
