I’ve got 1 part of Time and the Rani left, then i might start Underworld
I’m trying to decide on another Sixth Doctor story to watch now.
I enjoyed Revelation, but Six and Peri didn’t have a lot of screen time.
Try Vengeance on Varos or Mark of the Rani.
Just rewatched “The Magician’s Apprentice” (and it’s two prologue minisodes).
It’s really, really good - I always forget just how amazing it is. That initial scene with the kid and the Handmines? Wow!
This is when the 12th Doctor’s relationship with Missy really accelerates. When he sees her and plays “Pretty Woman” on the guitar chef’s kiss
And those two minisodes are just so very good I remember just how much they hyped me up for series 9! The Sisterhood of Karn needs to be used much more, that tete-a-tete between 12 and Ohila (or Ohica
) is fantastic.
And Julian Bleach was so good as Davros here! I am not the biggest fan of his portrayal in “Journey’s End”, but here it is spot on. And hearing those clips of 5 other Doctors’ interactions with Davros’ is fantastic.
But what I thought about most watching Davros here was his prosthetic hand/glove - dammit RTD Bostock gave his (smelly) life to shoot off that hand and you just pull a complete retcon on Davros’ backstory and history with the Doctor? Unacceptable
Justice 4 Bostock!
I’m so sorry.
I’m glad to see other people love the Magician’s Apprentice. It’s one of my favorite openers
I’m looking forward to it, same with The Mutants
Series 9 overall is one of the strongest 2005 Who seasons for me, so many amazing episodes
Seconding Vengeance on Varos, but, alternatively, maybe just start from the beginning with The Twin Dilemma? Since you’re already liking Six and Peri’s dynamic, I (hope) that you won’t be as turned off by their origin story compared to viewers who start with that serial.
Just watched part one. I liked it!
The main plot is a bit silly, but the Doctor and Peri are just amazing here!
I really like these two so far.
He played “Oh Pretty Woman” for Clara, other things for Missy.
That’s not how I interpret it
It’s a bit ambiguous, could be for them both
I thought it was pretty explicit with how it was after he looked directly at Clara, I don’t think it’s at all ambiguous, but if you see it differently…
Watching The Pirate Planet & enjoying it. Romana I is such a fun companion. So stylish and sassy.
Romana I is my favorite Romana
You liked it despite that scene in the beginning. Be my friend.
We made it halfway through the Daemons before Mom started falling asleep, so we’ll try and finish it tomorrow evening. Her first reaction to Bok was deeply upset stammering- “Oh my god. No. What is that?! That thing is so awful. They said it was big!! Azal, (sounds like “ran out” in our native language) more like ran out of BUDGET!” we assured her it is not Azal, “just a minion guy”, and I think he started growing on her, because “Here’s bok” and “Is bok coming” was most of what she talked about the rest of the serial. Then again she was very sleepy.
The strangling of Peri?
I don’t have any strong issues with it, it makes sense as the Doctor is confused, he’s just regenerated.
Finished. Really great but why didn’t they put any make up on Toms cold sore?
