Think I’ll continue The Woman Who Fell to Earth (thank you for the suggestion @Tian), but Spyfall is one I’m planning on rewatching really soon

I have no idea what my next one is. Arachnids in the UK is the next in line, but there might be something else before that…

If it’s not too much of a hassle, please

Although I’ll be going to bed now so I won’t see it until tomorrow anyway

I watched this one for the first time back in January, and actually ended up quite enjoying it - Sylvester McCoy and Kate O’Mara both give very entertaining performances, and the rest of the serial is enjoyable in a bonkers sort of way (whoever came up with the bouncing globes of death deserved a raise, and the scenes with the Rani pretending to be Mel are too silly not to be entertaining). I personally prefer it to the Mark of the Rani, which I found a bit dull.

I watched The Happiness Patrol for the first time this weekend (the special edition from the recent collection set), and I really enjoyed it. Pretty much my only issues were that it turns into a bit of a runaround in places, and the sewer-dwelling aliens are just sort of there and don’t contribute much to the story. Otherwise, the writing was excellent, basically everyone who appears gives a memorable performance, and the soundtrack, set design and costumes come together to create a well-realised world. I also loved that there were some new who style “doctor moments”, particularly the confrontation with the snipers, the laughing scene at the beginning of part three, and the final scene with Helen A.

A particular thing I really appreciate is how the premise is played completely straight - a lot of the elements (the Kandyman, the bright pink outfits, the death by strawberry fondant) could be have been played much less seriously, which I think would have greatly diminished the serial. As it is, I actually found the serial to have a nicely sinister atmosphere, which I think really drives home a lot of the themes and the satire. It’s something that I think New Who hasn’t always been brave enough to do, so it is great to see it here.

On the whole, I was very “happy” with this one (I’ll see myself out)

City of Death Part 1. And it’s so coinidental watching this so sooon after Robot Revolution. The time distortion in the cafe isn’t very very far off the time franture effects in RR, and the Doctor scoffs at Romana’s comment about computer art and takes her to see the real stuff. How serendipitous.

The computer art quote was very ahead of its time. Douglas Adams actually owned multiple Macs, and wrote computer articles, so it isn’t too surprising coming from him, though.

Unleashed for The Robot Revolution, followed by Random Shoes.

Have been in a Doctor Who burnout in the last few months that’s slowly healing. I hadn’t seen Joy to the Worlds yet, watched it yesterday. I quite liked it, found it beautiful. It’s rare a Moffat special doesn’t get to me, so not surprised there.

Watched Episode 2 of City of Death. So many good lines, and that’s just in the first five minutes.
