Finished “Dragonfire”
Ace and Mel have really good chemistry. What I wouldn’t give for those two to meet on screen and have Ace call Mel “Doughnut” once more
I love that goodbye between Mel and the Doctor, it feels so poignant.

Season 24 is all too short… It has such a great atmosphere all around.

Just officially finished my 13 era rewatch, I prolonged my rewatch of the specials for a reason I’d rather not get into, but wow. I actually liked the ep before, but found it massively overrated. I think once again, my opinions changed. I have a few issues with it, namely Tegan’s characterisation in parts, and Yaz’s exit. Asides from that, excellent.

ALSO, having just finished the latest River set, this story has even more layers with the added context behind how Ace and Tegan met!!!

I rewatched The Romans (a favourite of mine) with my friend, who has watched no doctor who before but finally agreed to watch an episode with me. Luckily, she really enjoyed it, finding it funny, especially the doctor’s mannerisms and behaviour, and she also got very attached to Tigilinus and Delos. I hope that there is a new doctor who fan in the making!

So funny thing, my mom has kinda started to watch DW with me when I watch classics. She didn’t do it now today when I watched The Reign of Terror, but she came into my room just like an hour-ish ago and asked if we could watch something. So I asked what decade and mentioned the modern series and she got interested.

And so because I have the standalone DVD for Deep Breath, I kinda decided to dip my toes into Series 8 early.

I really liked it. I was kind of unsure through the first few minutes because there was a lot of faffing about and a tad too much post-regeneration shenanigans for my tastes… but when the story got going it really got going. I’m liking Capaldi already even if there is some getting used to that I will have to do. Also didn’t expect Matt Smith to show up one final time there. 8/10

Coincidentally, I watched Deep Breath with my mother a few months ago! Perhaps they ought to form a “Mothers for the Twelfth Doctor” club.

Now watched the first 3 parts of The Daemons and loving how genuinely bonkers this story is lmao

I love The Daemons! One of my favourite Pertwee’s, with my favourite Brig quote:

Chap with the wings there. Five rounds rapid.

Death to the Daleks. It’s not great, but not as bad as I remember. I think with this rewatch I can actually say I don’t dislike any Pertwee serial.

Watched Orphan 55. I was a bit sleepy (still am) so had a little trouble following along. I also really couldn’t bear all the explosions and cuts. It went all really fast. I have never felt so old lol. I should’ve better put on a classic episode probably, but oh well.

The episode was fine. Some cool ideas, the character interactions are fun. All the side characters are like pantomime characters (i think would be the term) which yeah, is what I would expect from the rich that escaped dead Earth. Kinda Jubilee-y in that way, just not as entertaining. Found it a bit too deus ex machina-y with stuff happening just because. Might also be that I just wasn’t paying attention, so I won’t hold a point against it for that. A bit preachy at the end, but it’s also a preach that too many people ignore, so you know what. Something something subtext cowards. Wish it wasn’t so hopeful though. Like if you want to make a point just be really depressing about it. “You can try, but you’ve seen what your future is currently heading to.” And end with the Doctor giving a glare. It would be peak I tell you.

Dunno it was too stereotypically NuWho for me. So much action. 13 is a joy as always, so she brings it a point up but hm. The more i think of it the less i like it. Maybe it really is my worst rated Chibnall episode yet. Might have to give it another try later to see if my opinions will change. Can you tell I’m still tired? I’m rambling even more than usual. Ye even more WOW didnt know it wa s possible either… crazy…
