An enjoyer of both Demons AND Kerblam!, is it possible for someone to be this based?
I think Kerblam! gets a bad rep because losing your job to automation is just a general fear that a lot of people have and is especially relevant now with the rise of machine learning. I think the episode would have benefitted from being a bit more overt with showing the positives of automation and how it benefits people, because unfortunately a lot of people will take the episode at face value and not think about it at all.
I personally wouldn’t give it that high a mark, but then again I’m a harsh marker , but your explanation of the episode is so good I might have to raise my own rating. I am so happy you’re enjoying the era so much though, It’s nice to have some 13 positivity

I definitely think that we can draw parallels to “The System” that’s being talked about in the ep and AI today. Lots of stuff happening with AI right now that I really do not like, and should be looked at way more strictly (and if you ask me, I wouldn’t mind if they did away with AI ‘art’ and ‘writing’ altogether) but I can’t say that AI is a bad thing, with the amount of good it’s also doing. And i do think quite a lot of people fall into the trap of saying AI is a purely evil thing which is why I like the commentary this episode makes but don’t tell them I said that before i get lynched
To be honest, one of my frustrations has been that I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of AI, from back in the days where all we had was Eliza, and I’m someone who’s interested in programming and art, so it hits all the spots for me to be good at it… but everyone hates it…
I tried to finish the Dalek Invasion of Earth after putting it on hold for a while, but it still failed to capture my attention so I rated it as is and watched Attack of the Cybermen again. I know I’m biased, but nothing compares to Six’s era! Its in a class by itself.
