So true, you put your finger on exactly what annoyed me about Sutekh. Even though I do like him in Pyramids, I didn’t really here
Finished The Armageddon Factor, and continued on with part of Destiny of the Daleks. The Armageddon Factor was a real drag in the middle, but the start and end have some great one-liners (Optimism: irrational, bordering on insane!). I’m not a great fan of Dalek stories, so I can’t say I’m looking forwards to the rest of Destiny either, but man, what a hilarious opener to Season 17. It’s like being repeatedly hit with a rubber mallet that says DON’T PANIC on it in big, friendly letters.
I watched a few minisodes just because I don’t have the attention span today to do anything more.
A Fix with Sontarans - tried to find this on YouTube, watched some clips but can’t find the whole thing, too creepy anyway, I decided to ‘skip’ it.
Music of the Spheres - seen this before, it’s pretty good actually, I can imagine being there would have been amazing (and I read @15thDoctor’s review, very jealous!)
Dead and Buried - the Bernice Summerfield animation! It’s 100% based on Tomb Raider. It even looked like a video game. Pretty cool, but I didn’t have a clue about the overarching story (I thought she was friends with Brax, guess not, and guess I got spoiled). But yeah it was good. I’m liking Benny more now.
Completed the Minisodes set!
I’m still tracking 30 sets
you have nooooo idea how complicated that one gets
Yeah I feel like that’s a big can of worms.
I really need a Benny completion order guide…
There is a version without the real monster of that story.
Oh yes I’m so forgetful sorry lol gonna save this on my phone.
Yeah I think it’s on the BluRay.
The only part of it I’ve seen was Tegan winding up on the TARDIS with the 6th Doctor. That bit was enough for me to think that that’s a great Doctor/Companion pairing, though.
(Mind you, if Tegan had been the companion in Twin Dilemma, things would have gone very differently…)
That’s the clip I saw yes.
“All charm, all heart… all mouth!”
Finished Destiny of the Daleks. It’s such a weird serial, it starts off with an incredibly fun opening, and then immediately lapses into a dull Dalek story more typical of Pertwee’s Dalek serials than Genesis of the Daleks. It’s not as if there aren’t interesting stories to be told with Daleks, but… eh. This was not it. On the bright side, it did make Creature from the Pit come to life instantly.
Rewatched The Doctor’s Wife for the first time in about a decade or more. Still love it a lot! But it’s not perfect imo. A lot of the Moffatisms and general dialogue between 11 and the TARDIS are a bit “haha aren’t we so wacky!” which made me cringe a bit. An issue I’ve had with 11’s era (as much as I love a lot of it) for a while. Still, despite this it’s great. The stuff with House is amazing, the sets look fantastic, all performances are incredible and the 11/TARDIS stuff that’s played straight is beautiful.
I also really love the Amy and Rory subplot a lot; great minimalist creepiness and suspense!
The one thing that brings that story down is how Amy and Rory clearly walk through the same corridor about 6 times.
I know money was tight but would it have killed them to make the TARDIS look a bit… I dunno… bigger on the inside?!
(Still waiting for a really good story inside the TARDIS. Please let’s do this next season instead of a T-Rex!)
On the one hand, I’m not watching Doctor Who, so this should really go in TV Time
On the other, I’m watching episode one of Blake’s 7, which I think is sufficiently close enough
I’m still waiting for Liberator Guide to be launched.
Honestly if there’s any non-who show that should be on here…
I like it better than Doctor Who that aired during the same time.
It’s technically the same universe because of the character of Carnell from Weapon and because the Fendahl is in Kaldor City.
I’ve heard!!
Going to give a listen after I finish
Besides half of Season 17, I just watched Mona Lisa’s Revenge. It’s an odd plot pitch, but it was a lot of fun!
