Hmm I will look out for that when I plop on the remaining parts
Watched the first part of Snakedance this morning and I’m enjoying it so far!
Watched the first part of Space Museum. It is a great start to the story and the mystery. Feels like the one if the first proper sci-fi stories.
I experienced a new-found appreciation for this story on my last rewatch. Something about it really clicked with me this time round.
I finally had time to watch The War Games in Colour. It was better than I expected! More thoughts in the dedicated thread!
And another one bites the dust. I’ll give Caves a rewatch to bookend this era, but aside from that I have seen all of 5 on TV. And I can’t lie… this is one of the weaker runs imo.
S20 is the strongpoint for me, with a few gems dotted throughout the other two seasons. Aside from that, it’s mostly just alright-to-mid episodes with a few real stinkers here and there. As of now this is my second lowest rated classic Doctor run, only followed by poor sixie. It isn’t the worst the show has ever gotten - far from it. Davison only ever improves and it gave us Tegan, who has slowly grown on me. But at the same time, thank goodness for Big Finish.
It felt like a “Mindgame” sort of evening.
So I’ve just pressed play on that one
I know I’ve seen it before, but I can’t seem to remember that much about it. Except an awesome Draconian, a Sontaran and Sophie Aldred of course
Been watching more SJA recently.
Eye of the Gorgon and Warriors of Kudlak are both very solid stories.
I also watched Dreamland.
Yikes.
I rewatched it recently. It’s awful!
Awful?
I just finished it, and couldn’t disagree more
I really enjoyed it
Terrance Dicks really captures how a Sontaran, a Draconian and Space Mercenary Ace would react in this situation based on their previous Who excursions.
It’s a bit slight on plot, but then again it is only 35 minutes long and takes place in two sets.
Bring Miles Richardson back as a Draconian on the main show!
Bring back the Draconians period.
They were so perfect in “Frontier in Space” that it would be hard to do the Draconian Empire justice. I would be so sad if they were given the Sutekh treatment…
Just finished Warriors of the Deep part 2.
Myrka!!!
(It does not benefit from the excessive lighting does it?)
Quoted for truth. The alien I most want to see returned in New Who.
Miles Richardson is brilliant, as are the other two prisoners. But the alien, the gorilla mask, the, as you say, slight plot - ugh. I’d recommend the sequel though which is three monologues by the characters, especially if you want more Miles Richardson.
Well I know what I am watching tonight then
Yes the gorilla mask alien is not a good look for the antagonist I’ll grant you.
Could also be that I liked it because I am a bit over a third of the way through the VNAs where this version of Ace very clearly comes from. I got a big smile on my face when she mentioned the “Professor” and when she said “Wicked” at the end
Sophie Aldred is good in this it is true.
Snakedance part 2: I’ve always found Fivey at his best when he tries to take command Four style but totally fails, and Snakedance delivers this in spades! And as I said during Kinda: Janet Fielding just nails playing possessed! Really enjoying this so far.
Watched last two parts of The Dominators while recovering from my wisdom teeth surgery. The dentist said that I need to be watched for the next 24 hours by someone 18 or older, so I figured since the Doctor is about 500 in this serial, he would be willing to pitch in.
So wait, did you watch the final two parts of The Dominators 28 times to fulfill the 24 hours?
Thats committment!
