I still don’t think that Devil’s Chord would work as a season opener even if you include CoRR. That would make 2 magic episodes in a 3 episode Spann (Giggle to DC). I think that Devil’s Chord could work as a season 2 opener but I feel like it is too early.
Is it indicative of anything that I actually forgot Rogue was in the season?!
I would put that in with the good episode, overall, although I didn’t find it quite as engaging (I think the romance aspect was overplayed to the detriment of the rest of the plot and characters).
Have you read the Target Novel? It is like the episode but fixes the problems you have with it!
I doubt I’ll read it any time soon - I have a funny relationship with the more recent novelisations. Part of me doesn’t really see the point and yet the other part of me fully understands the appeal.
I think that they serve a point if they do something more with the story like Giggle, Rouge, and Day of the Doctor. But some are not necessary at all.
Ooh, interesting!! Hope you don’t mind if I put up my thoughts:
- Space Babies
- Boom
- The Devil’s Chord
- 73 Yards
- Rogue
- Dot and Bubble
- Legend of Ruby Sunday
- Empire of Death
Not very different, but I genuinely think Space Babies works well as a series opener, and just moving Devil’s Chord slightly later makes it gel better with the rest of the season (and I think gives it a better contrast to Boom than in the original running order).
I like the idea of Rogue being earlier, and Dot and Bubble being the last story before the finale. But even this reshuffled order doesn’t work perfectly for me. I think it’s the impossibly short episode count that makes it hard to order comfortably. (8 episodes is simply not enough…)
This is exactly how I would order them.
Leaving Devil’s Chord for 3rd makes an even bigger gap between past focused stories (LotSD → DC), and I think there’s enough pseudo-science in TCoRR to be fine.
Plus it makes sense for Maestro to come shortly after her father’s defeat imo
An old fan like you should appreciate tradition! The point is they are tradition! The Target novelisations are a fun, decades-old tradition by this point, so of course it should continue!
I don’t see this as big of a problem as the magic in DC. It makes for a terrible first episode according to me.
I dont know who any of those are. But I have mostly read Batman from DC.
Zatanna, Doctor Fate and Constantine, all DC magic users
Finished The Mind of Evil. It saved itself by the end. A solid 4/5. Tonight I’ll be on The Claws of Axos.
I want to see those caves too
Hey. Typing while walking is hard. Leave me alone.
His accent is annoying already.
Gotta love Constantine, Bisexual king
