I want to read your reviews. The book was exactly what I expected. I liked it.
I just finished reading The Murder Game recently because I kinda needed it for The Selachian Gambit- it was a fascinating read! The story starts off as a murder mystery then turns into a Base Under Siege type of story. Loved the characters in this one but especially love Ben and Polly in this story. I’m still very early in the Second Doctor’s era so felt it was a great time to read this.
I loved the murder mystery aspect of the story but then I felt a bit disappointed when the whole story started to turn into a Base Under Siege story. Still had a pretty good time! The Selachians were kinda terrifying I guess. I mean they are other merciless killing “machines” errm sharks- but not as terrifying as a Cybermen or a Dalek. In a sense they remind me of a hyper version of the Sontarans. At last I gave it a 7/10 personally.
My next book I want to read is something from the First Doctor era but not sure what yet. I was thinking between The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and The Witch Finders.
I’d recommend the Witch Finders out of those two! Although it depends if you want a pure historical or not. The Witch Finders is a great pure historical imo!
Took a headstart on the next Comic Club and started reading Supremacy of the Cybermen.
I absolutely love your post on this. I’m probably the most critical detractor of Time Lord Fairy Tales, my reaction to the book is the polar opposite of yours…but I love hearing your take on why you love it. Thanks for sharing this.
Finished ‘Touched by an Angel’.
Really good. Such a heart breaking story.
My only complaints are my criticism above that this story adds more quirks to the Angels powers and that Amy doesn’t really do much. This could’ve been a solo doctor story or (heaven forbid) a Doctor & Rory story.
I really need to re-read this!! I keep meaning to.
Not sure I like the cover that I have for it in Apple Books…
My dad asked me to go through all the books he’s selling to see which ones I wanted to keep, and I picked these ones… He has a lot and now that most of them are digitized he’s freeing up space.
He was also selling a copy of Doctor Who and The Autons that I wanted but I opened up that to reveal it had 80 missing pages
Still on the Classic era of the show so I don’t really know how worth some of the others are in terms of reading.
(And I do also want to read Touched By An Angel)
I think the original cover is better. This one is from a reprint they did as part of the Monster Collection just after the 50th.
I spot The Tides of Time!
Edit: oh wait I thought it was this we were meming on but that’s Turning of the Tide!
This miss is almost funnier than the meme itself!
I am currently reading Scratchman, though admittedly I’m around 20 to 30 pages until the end, so I’ll probably be onto my next book (Dune:Messiah, not Doctor Who related unfortunately ) by the time anyone replies to this.
Against my better judgement I’m reading a PROBE anthology series.
Started on The Good Doctor last night, really enjoying it so far
I’m reading more of The Target Storybook, trying to finish it before I move onto another book because I keep forgetting about it.
Not that impressed with the stories if I’m honest, although we did get a pretty clear confirmation that Adric is gay in Matthew Waterhouse’s story
I just read “Reunion”, a Brief Encounter from a 1991 Doctor Who Magazine with Peri and “the Doctor” (Seven) reuniting on Krontep. According to this author, twenty years have passed since she last spoke to the Doctor. I’m ever glad for Big Finish for closing the distance between Mindwarp and the next time they meet because I don’t believe Six would let that much time go by before seeing her again. He’s way too hooked on her.
Soon…
Soon you will reach that story…
What?
The Turning of the Tide?
Speak up, child! Speak up!
It’s why I’m reading, I was told it was a very good story.
