Well, if you’d met my sister, you’d know just how terrifying Vegans can be.
Which is to say…not at all, really.

Great, now you’ve got me thinking about giant, um, something shaking.
The wiki are really investigating the case of the mysterious vegan mayo:
I love it when they go really specific like this.
(From my own experience, stuff like this doesn’t just get eaten by vegans. Lots of my relatives have oat milk now after they tried my coffees, and many in my extended family have vegan butter, they also vegan ‘salad cream’ and mayo after trying it and preferring the flavour - it’s genuinely nicer without all that sulphury eggy flavour)
I mean this with such sincere affection; I love it when the wiki go into such detail about something so utterly, utterly pointless. DW fans <3
I don’t know, Shauny. My sister has fed / gifted me quite a few faux / replacement vegan versions of foodstuffs over the decades, and there hasn’t been a one I preferred over the original.
Mind you, I’m just referring to what I guess I’d call “ingredients”. There have been quite a few vegan products that I enjoyed a good deal, but not things like vegan meat substitutes or cheese substitutes, and so on.
Maybe you have a better feel for what vegan products will appeal to carnivores.
Just read the short story “Chemistry” by one Sophie Aldred from “Origin Stories”.
My word did I love that one
A young Ace being taught Chemistry by the Thirteenth Doctor! My favourite classic companion with my favourite “new” Doctor! Wicked!
Just finished Vampire Science! Fantastic book, but I’m feeling some sort of way I can’t really describe.
Time to start The Bodysnatchers!
I get what you mean. I felt the exact same way about The Year of Intelligent Tigers
I am on a Thirteenth Doctor reading binge these days
After I read “Chemistry” yesterday I’ve also read “Gatecrashers” from the Target Storybook. Read the Target Comics: “A New Beginning”, “Hidden Human History”, the Holiday Special + half of “Old Friends”.
Also read “The Rhino of Twenty-Three Strand Street” from "Twelve Weeping Angels ".
And the short comic “The Greatest Movie Never Made”.
All of it for the first time.
Nothing featuring Dan and his trusty wok though…
I’m hoping “The Maze of Doom” shows up in my mailbox within the next week as well
(I have ordered it - not just trying to make a copy materialise there by the power of wishful thinking…)
Be patient. Just like it’s not easy to predict how long it will take to get through a maze, it’s also not easy to predict how long it will take a Maze to get through.
Today I’ve the novelisations of Nightmare of Eden, Horns of Nimon and the Creature from the Pit. I’m really enjoying the pace of these novels, it’s been a while since I’ve read much, so the short chapters are very helpful. While Terrance Dicks is not a bad writer, his novelisations don’t add much to the story though, so I enjoyed Creature from the Pit much more, the world felt much richer.
I just finished “Borrowed Time” by Naomi A. Alderman.
SO GOOD!!!
Loved how time was dealt with in this book and it had a couple laugh out loud moments for me… but I am EASILY amused!
JR
13th Doctor short story reading continues.
I’ve also read “Citation Needed” from the Target Storybook today.
And I am halfway through “Time Lapse” from 13 Doctors, 13 Stories" at the moment
I haven’t gone back to read any of the NSAs, but if I ever do, Borrowed Time is likely to be at or near the top of the list. I don’t remember the details, but my recollection is that I thought it was quite good.
Well as mentioned I’m very new to all the DW books, so when I saw this on Amazon, I thought it was a new book, but it seems like it is older(?)
I loved it, one of my favorites so far, but I’ve really only read 10 DW books so far.
It was originally published in June 2011. Another really good Eleventh Doctor novel is Touched by an Angel by Jonathan Morris.
Whoa, already nearly 14 years old, and I thought it was new because of the new sexy cover art of the book I received.
Thank you, I just read “Touched” a month ago, and really loved that one!
Thanks for your comment!
I haven’t read Borrowed Time, but Naomi Alderman gained increased fame and prominence from her 2016 (non-Doctor Who) novel The Power , so I think they decided to rerelease Borrowed Time to capitalize on her increased reputation, and also to appeal to non-Doctor Who fans who were interested in her work.
Very interesting! Thank you! I’m glad they rereleased it, or I may have missed it.
It’s my favorite to date.
Charles Darwin and the Silurian Survival. A lovely short read, filled with hope and optimism and love for the natural world.
Meed to give Bloodtide another listen sometime.
