Read Day of the Doctor! Right now! I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was, it’s essential!
“The Myth Makers” is my second favourite Target novelisation
I won’t say anything, but you are getting a mighty side eye from Denmark my Finnish friend…
Aaaah, that was it! Thank you
I need some help though: would you recommend that I read the book version or listen to the audiobook? I have the e-book already but I can get the audiobook if it’s worth it!
I read the novel, I think it works much better that way.
The audiobook might be good, but the way it’s written just suits print more.
I wonder if they changed some of the text for audio? Because some of it I think would only work on paper…
Hmm narrated by Nick Briggs. Not the most inspired choice of narrator.
Finished “The Secret in Vault 13” yesterday.
It might be the best 13th Doctor book I’ve read.
The plot is not that special, but the characterisation of the Fam is just so spot on! They never felt quite right in “The Good Doctor”, “Combat Magicks” or “Molten Heart”.
You know what, I take the part about the plot back, that’s actually pretty great. Here’s a spoilered sum up:
Graham’s potted plant gives a message to the Doctor that summons them to the planet of the Ents → Evil Ents want to destroy and restart the universe. → Side quests searching for keys. → Save the Universe. → End up in Scandinavia! (Why is it always Norway???)
4/5 for this one
Hmm, I’ll go for the e-book then, since I own it already!
I absolutely knew you would like it! (Oh, and there’s a sequel, The Maze of Doom, which I haven’t read.)
Here’s what I thought of the novel:
(I love to shamelessly publicise)
That’s a good review of this book
It’s not high literature, but it’s a rollicking funny adventure with side quests
And I did not know that there was a sequel
Though the last page did indicate something was going on in the TARDIS come to think of it
It is absolutely a must for me to get my hands on that book
I’m still reading Love and War, about a chapter every few days, because every other free moment of time I’m working on the website.
It’s good but not great yet.
I’m about half way through and Benny hasn’t really done much.
Not ready to join the fan club yet!
Read an interesting little booklet last night: With All Your Mind: Autism and the Church by Erin Burnett, an autistic christian from Northern Ireland. It’s interesting, a simple crash course in what Autism is and then how churches can be more inclusive of autistic people as well as how autistic people relate to the faith. An interesting little booklet and extremely short (about 55 of actual text).
I’m just scanning through the pages of the latest DWM and there is a special feature about Doctor Who and neurodivergence, by the co-host of the “Autism Through Cinema” podcast.
I saw that, and I’m very much looking forward to reading it.
I did the audiobook and it was good. I think both works.
Sounds interesting. But as I don’t get DWM, it’s definitely a pass for me.
I don’t recall Maze being much of a sequel to Vault 13. Yeah, they totally look related - same author same cover style - but I don’t recall anything from Vault impacting Doom.
At the end of Vault they hear something happening inside the TARDIS and from the blurb for Maze it looks like that’s where that one begins.
So it appears to be more a case of one adventure just rolling into the next
Just read Under Control!
Does anyone know if the Annual printing is an abridged version, or the full story, so I can mark it as completed?
That sounds more like it.
FWIW, I liked Vault better…but then, Maze has that purple cover, and purple’s my favorite color. So, six of one, I guess.
Started a re-read of The Lost World (the Jurassic Park one, not the Conan Doyle one) last night.
