Finished Amorality Tale. It was pretty good, a very straightforward plot about aliens causing the Great Smog of London, and the leader of an East End gang leading the charge to fight them. Some very heavy moments too, with characters slowly dying due to the smog and other factors involved, including a small child and a couple that gets crushed to a pulp, which were very distressing to read but very effective.
And now I’m off to Island of Death, my final Third Doctor novel, as well as the last one with the Brigadier as a regular companion. Unfortunately it’s another Barry Letts outing, but at least this was his last one too.
I have just begun reading At Childhood’s End by Sophie Aldred. It starts out very interesting, should be good.
Do I need to sign up for the book club. Seems I saw a thread on it yesterday but now I cant find it. And where to find the reviews. I walked passed it earlier but doh
Nearly halfway through A Device of Death, I’m just enjoying this book so much. Every time I get to a new book by Christopher Bulis it’s like getting a little treat he’s got such good and creative ideas
No, this is a common misconception- the book club is purely a set of threads we post about a series of books and chat about it, there’s no need to sign up. You just dive in to any topic!
The Colour of Darkness done. Moving on to The Depths of Despair. It’s interesting to me that, even though these are by different authors, they all feel like they come from the same voice.
I’ve been slowly trying to complete all of the Six Short Trips. Interestingly enough, I’ve found more enjoyment in the random non-Six Short Trips I’ve read than the Six ones. Most of them have either been boring, have made no sense, or a combination of both.
Should be able to finish The Face of the Enemy, which I’m thoroughly enjoying, tonight. Then, I’ve got The Star Beast and Wild Blue Yonder sitting on my desk at home and The Giggle is In Transit from my library. After that, no idea. We’ll see what ILLs comes in when.
The Depths of Despair might be a slight step down in The Darksmith Legacy series, or maybe it’s just that the books are basically following the same formula - interesting settings, but a lot of the book is spent literally running from the threat. Anyway The Vampire of Paris is up next.
I’m finally reading Lungbarrow and very much enjoying it! Leela’s scenes are the highlight so far. I think it’s interesting how little the Seventh Doctor has actually appeared so far, especially considering it’s his final novel in his own series.
The characters are shockingly well written (I’m actually kind of into Sam’s character, I thought that was impossible) but god is the story dull. Am currently crawling my way through it.
