Ooh I’m trying to work something out to do with that audiobook, if you could help me by giving me plot detail that would help a lot
Pylons! But alive
I started a relisten to The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles. It was one of the first BF sets that I listened to. Don’t remember much more than I liked it.
Gallifrey Time War 1 is ruining my brain!! I’ve decided I’m gonna stop pretending I’ll do other sets at the same time and just focus on Gallifrey now until I’m done (with the occasional other stories on the side)
Going to start The War Doctor Rises: Fallen Heroes.
I listened to The Worlds of Doctor Who set today. I really like the concept of it, with a connecting thread (the villain) through the years, but each story feeling complete on its own. The Jago and Lite foot one was nice. The Counter Measures one was delightful, and really fitting for the series. The third one I didn’t like as much, it felt confusing. The Gallifrey one with the Doctor ended it all very nicely, it’s my favourite of these, Leela is absolutely excellent.
After a break during Part 3, I finally finished The Stones of Venice!
Really liked it!
Now, onto Minuet in Hell!
“The Vanity Box” with Mel and Six in drag. I’m surprised this one is ranked so low (2.94); I gave it five stars and a favorite!
I like The Vanity Box! (Well, it’s Magrs, of course I like it…) A lot of fun and so silly.
It is! As much as I want to relisten to audios that I’ve ranked 3-stars in below (in hopes that my rating will increase on a second listen), sometimes I want to go back to these old favorites.
Now onto The Doctor’s Coat!
Listened to most of No Place while mowing the lawn.
Today, The Romance of Crime and The English Way of Death. Now, like everything in my audiothon, I’ve listened to them before, and like most everything, I don’t remember how much I liked or didn’t like them the first time. But my recollection of the books is that I really enjoyed Romance, and though I also liked English I didn’t like it as much as the earlier one.
On today’s listens, though, I think I enjoyed English more. I kind of lost interest towards the end a bit, but still, it probably translated better to audio for me than Romance. Though the Ogrons really are fun.
Death in Blackpool and Situation Vacant
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the story that hinged on me caring about The Zygon who Fell to Earth rather fell flat, and the story that didn’t have Lucie was a highpoint of the series so far.
Finishing off Doctor Who and the Zarbi today.
Just finished Sword of Orion on my way to school, since it’s still kind of early I started to listen The Stones of Venice
Don’t forget to pop into the Audio Club threads for those stories and share your thoughts (and see what we all thought)
Six’s interludes have all been pretty bad (even by TG’s ratings), but I’m going to give two of them another go: Technicolor Nightmare Coat and The Ultimate Poe. Rosie Baker deserved better than to read through that mess of words, and Mel was the absolute wrong companion for a story about a Baltimorean artist.
The Devil You Know, with my favourite Master, during lunch
I recently said that Torchwood is my favourite Big Finish range because they very rarely do anything wrong.
Well yesterday at the gym I listened to Expectant (that awful cover is a good approximation of how good the story is) and today I am listening to another Queen Victoria one (I really don’t like those) so starting to doubt myself
Expectant is… oof. I like Fortitute a lot more because it’s willing to show just how awful Queen Victoria is, but it’s not the greatest IMO.
But you’ve got a great stretch of stories coming up!
