I’m absolutely certain I’m not listening to that!

Listened to Ghost in the Machine this morning. That makes two audios in a row I really loved. This one has echoes of Whispers of Terror, in that it really makes nifty use of the audio medium. This one is dripping in atmosphere and kept me thoroughly engaged throughout.

I’ve just started listening to series 1 of the Bernice Summerfield audios (have nearly finished the second episode) and already I’m completely obsessed with Benny. I’ve listened to a few Doctor Who audios with her in before, but I much prefer her as her own protagonist than as a companion of the Doctor. The way she’s kind of messed up as a character is deeply compelling, and I do enjoy the way this range is a bit more adult.

She’s the best isn’t she  her range just gets better from here!

So I already did this one previously but I listened to it again yesterday: The Fearmonger.

Overall just a really good story. I’m not the best with audio stories, I tend to get a little lost with who’s who and where the characters are (and I can lose my attention sometimes), but it didn’t really happen that much for my first listen of this one and it basically didn’t happen at all with my relistening.

The premise is solid and quite ahead of its time, all the characters were enjoyable and interesting, honestly the least interesting thing about the whole story is the monster itself and they still did well with it in the twist that the distorted voice doesn’t come from the Fearmonger, the Fearmonger makes others hear voices like that.

There are a few lines that are a little out of place and I feel like Stephen gets a little bit left out in the later parts, but overall this is really, really good. 9/10.

Upon realizing how few Five and Peri audios there are, I’ve decided that I’m going to try and listen to them all regardless if Erimem’s included or not. I’m going to start with Exotron.

I love how it starts with Peri lecturing Five on botany!

Managed to get through quite a few audios this week:

The face in the Storm 4DA - have had this near the top of my backlog since about November. It was better than I expected, I felt like the emotional stuff for Naomi didn’t work but still a good 4/5.

Dominant Species 4DA - I was pleasantly surprised by this. I’m usually not a fan of alien war stories, but I loved this one. The jump between part 1 and 2 is a tad jarring, but on the whole it was great. Oddly it feels very much like a story written in 2022, which is funny considering at the latest it would have been in 2020. 4/5

London Orbital 7DA - I wasn’t as keen on this one. The first part is great, and extremely solid. Part 2 is also amazing. Part 3 feels bloated too me. It was very reliant on exposition and I it did confuse me a bit. Part 4 was a nice enough ending. 3.5/5

Overall, definitely a fan of Christopher Naylor’s Harry Sullivan and will be hopefully catching up on UNIT Nemesis and the rest of his 7DAs!.

Been really enjoying Gallifrey series 2! But once I finish this tomorrow or Thursday, I’ll need to go back and finish 4DA series 3 even if I haven’t enjoyed the past couple…

You might put off FDA for a while. Gallifrey keeps ending on cliffhangers.

Don’t know if you’ve finished it yet so spoilers!

That is absolutely not how they resolve the plot> Moving Target is brutal…

Mission of the Viyrans next. The cover for this audio is one of the worst I’ve seen for BF.

I’ve found multiple covers online for this one, the one you sent is the most fan made looking out of the three though, defo doesn’t look like a BF cover.

Not sure which is real, the BF site has a cover thats just a photo?? Is this some special release?

Done some digging, the blue one is the correct cover! BF don’t use official promo pics like that Peri one you sent very often, and I’d never seen the cover which striked me as odd.

The blue one is the best one out of the bunch. Perhaps (@Shauny) the cover should be changed on TARDIS Guide to the original, instead of whatever is currently there.

Interesting that the picture used on the BF website is from the booklet of Blue Forgotten Planet (you can see Six’s coat in the background).

Oooh didn’t spot that one on the Guide being wrong, granted I’m less familiar with the monthly range covers but that one screamed fan made.

Oh yeah, idk why they have this instead of the cover art?

Okay so Moving Target managed to pull the rug and subvert my expectations. They obviously expect those of us well-versed in sci-fi to expect it to go the way I said. But that sudden kill shot properly shocked me - and yet is perfectly in character for Suzie. A great fun audio with a, as @taraoftraken says, brutal ending!
