Was enjoying stranded but haven’t been driven to finish the series yet.

Liv seeing a cop and immediately deciding to lie to them is iconic of her, even if that cop is Andy

I need to finish Doom Coalition and Ravenous before I even get near Stranded - and that’s just the tip of my BF iceberg!

Children of the Future: Sontarans versus Rutans 2

This Tim Foley chap knows how to write a jolly good yarn doesn’t he?

What a thoroughly enjoyable hour of listening! Foley is so good at understanding the patterns of speech and character quirks of both the Doctor and the UNIT family, something he also did so well for the Fifth Doctor and UNIT (though a very different iteration) in Forty Two: The Auton Infinity.

This was a really strong Third Doctor outing, making good use of the Rutans as well as cashing in on our fond memories of The Time Warrior. I wasn’t blown away by the first entry in the Sontarans versus Rutans series, but Foley has got things moving beautifully here. I you haven’t yet heard this one then I heartily recommend it. If you have… well, it’s great fun isn’t it?

I’ve been a bit on the fence with Sontarans versus Rutans, but you do make me want to check that one out
I love the UNIT family :+1:

Lies!

Love it. It is just a series of two hander scenes but each one is a zinger: Narvin and Darkel; Romana and Andred; Romana and Braxiatel, Darkel and Andred, Leela and K9, Narvin and Wynter. Dialogue dripping with inference and intrigue.

I think you’ll enjoy then. It’s basically the Brig and SJS but so familiar and lovely. I can absolutely see Nick Courtney thriving with this story. He (the Brig) gets to play a key role.

I’m watching this video and have to stop to listen to the soundtracks they mentioned frequently. Never really paid attention to the bgm except for tracks like I am the Doctor and The Shepherds Boy, time to catch up

I was listening to Bernadette Peters singing “The Last Midnight”…

OMG - I LOVE Into the Woods! One of my all-time favourite musicals and that version with Peters was filmed and I have watched so many times! I saw a Youth Theatre production and it was excellent (and started late because we had to wait for Prince Edward and his wife Sophie to arrive).

I even like the Disney version which is a pretty faithful adaptation.

And Last Midnight - ooh :woman_cook:t2:

Into The Woods is great! A bit of an odd story though…

I’ve only seen the Disney version and listened to the theatre OST. I wish the Disney version was more faithful to it and had all the songs but then it would have been much longer.

The story is great - it’s basically what happens after Happily Ever After. I was obsessed with fairy tales for a while in my teens.

I’ve actually only seen the version with Peters, but I love that version, and have watched it multiple times. In this case, I pulled up a clip that had “Your Fault” going into “The Last Midnight” because the song popped into my head randomly.

I love the story, too, and that song’s sort of the culmination of things. And some of the lyrics…

You’re so nice
You’re not good, you’re not bad
You’re just nice
I’m not good, I’m not nice
I’m just right
I’m the witch
You’re the world

Okay, yes, I’m watching for the witch…

You’d think I’d have watched the Disney version by now, but it’s really one of these spots where part of me is worried what Disney would do to it.

Meryl Streep absolutely crushed this role imo

Bernadette Peters did, too. She’s absolutely iconic in it.

Peters is iconic but I reckon Streep did the role successfully too. People like to hate on the Disney version because it’s the Disney version and it’s got James Corden (who’s not even that bad). It is actually a worthwhile adaptation.

Oh and I can almost do all the lyrics to ‘Your Fault’.

The Dark Flame. More Benny, yay!

After that, I hope I find the time to listen to the Coda that we have been waiting for all year. Or I might jump onto Spirit to get a head start on tomorrow’s Audio Club Extra.

Wondering if I should finish Love and War before listening to Coda, as I’m still learning about Benny.

(I also haven’t listened to the Eighth of March stuff yet for the same reason)

Definitely want to get into Spirit early!

I started Toby Hadoke’s anniversary podcast in lieu of Coda being ready where he is watching and talking about Dimensions in Time with its co-writer David Roden (spoilered because it’s a surprise reveal in the podcast itself). It will get put on pause so I can listen to Coda on the way home though. That’s either going to be good or awful (like, unfortunately, a fair bit of Once & Future) but I’m hoping Jo Martin and Lisa Bowerman - not to mention Jonathan Carley - will be worth listening to whatever happens).
