The Goo-snake Master is the one I am looking forward to the most :sunglasses:

The Nun, and The Monk were also in the original trailer

As well as of course The War Master, The Goop Snake Master, Missy people have already mentioned, and Morbius who’s already out

That’s all we have confirmed though

We know it’s going to be 8 parts

  • 1 - Morbius
  • 2 - War Master
  • 3/4? - Missy
  • 3/4? - Goopy Snake Master
  • ?? - The Monk
  • ?? - The Nun (potentially Monk and Nun could be a combined trilogy, but I’d assume separate from the way they’re given equal weight in the trailer)
  • ?? - ???
  • ?? - ???

For those last two I’d say the biggest possibilities (in order) are (mostly what’s been said already)

  • Omega
  • Rassilon
    • I’d say these two are the most likely
  • More Masters
    • Given it’s almost half masters anyway, I’d assume not them though
    • In order of most likely to least (in my opinion): Beevers, Macqueen, Gatiss, Dhawan, Simm
  • The Rani
  • The War Chief
  • Borusa
  • Tecteun

Probably best to move this discussion to the Dark Gallifrey thread

Finished Goth Opera and goddamn does this rule! Appropriate amount of dramatic and dark to live up to its title. Amazing performances all round, great pacing, great plot. Just a great time all round!

Also one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard in a BF story.

Steeled myself to face Crystal of Cantus again and wowzers this story is damn good. And it makes me happy bc it ties into Gallifrey  I always forget Hallan is in this one

Listened to Auld Lang Syne. Oooooooh blimey, this is the definitive New Year’s Special. So much heart to it.

Honestly, I think the 9DAs get such a bad rap. Yes, there’s no overtly obvious story arc with a mystery box every story, but there is an emotional arc nonetheless - it’s 9-as-a-classic doctor. It’s 9, but the focus is less on his “grr grr time war angst” at all times (which is what, I think, some people expect) but moreso him as the cheeky everyman traveller who pops in, fixes things, fights the baddies, and leaves again.

But the sadness beneath is hinted to a lot more - when people try to get close to him, he pushes them away. He has “a million friends across the stars” but he purposefully avoids getting too attached. He has been through a lot, but doesn’t let that ruin his love for life and for the universe.

Echoes of Grey is a solid middle-of-the-road story. Good action, but I’m a bit bothered with the very callous way in which the threat is defeated, and the fact that no one in the story seems the least bit bothered by it. I don’t think anyone really thought that through. The very end, though, the conclusion of the framing story, that I quite liked.

On a side note, I started going through my old discs on the long drives to and from work, and that’s been great, but lately I’ve been also listening mornings and weekends, which is great and all, but it’s obliterated my reading time. Really gotta cut back on these audios so I can get back to the books!

I’ve been enjoying the 1632 series (essentially a turn-of-the-century West Virginia coal-mining town is transported to 1631 Thuringia during the Thirty Years War and the series is how the West Virginians affect 1630s Europe and how 1630s reacts to the Americans). It’s a fascinating and fun series and I’m enjoying a lot of the characters. Some books are better than others, but man are there a lot of characters to keep track of, both historical and fictional.

Just listened to the final Dark Gallifrey - War Master story.

That was a mess.
Really hope that there is a reason other than “timey-wimey” for why this epilogue storyline was places as the second out of eight stories.
Dark Gallifrey is turning out to have a bit too much in common with the storytelling choices of the Once and Future stories.

So is Captain John stuck as a TARDIS now? Also all the noises James Marsters had to make in this story was downright embarrassing to listen to, really cringe worthy.

I am not particularly excited about future installments of Dark Gallifrey… (Okay, maybe a bit about the Eric Roberts ones)

Just finished with Torchwood: Aliens Among us. Fairly weak story arc overall, but some genuinely excellent stories in there (A Kill to a View to Tagged are especially good).

I finished listening to The War Master: Rage of the Time Lords this morning.

Everyone has been raving about The War Master but I found this boxset to be very disappointing. The first two stories are very Master-lite (again!), with The Coney Island Chameleon being a 2/5 from me.

The last 2 stories were more exciting as it included the Eighth Doctor, but it was a boring story, very predictable, and a very predictable mind wipe at the end for the Doctor so he didn’t remember the Master - I just felt very flat after listening to this, especially as it has been so highly recommended.

Oh well, you can’t win them all, and Anti-Genesis is next which has very high ratings.

Rage of the Time Lords is probably the weakest of the War Master range, yeah

Anti-Genesis is absolutely a highlight though, you’re in for a treat

I should give Anti Genesis another try because I didn’t enjoy it much at all.

Anti-Genesis is definitely the best of the four seasons I’ve heard of the War Master. But still not quite good enough that I want to continue with the range (now that there is no Narvin to look forward to :upside_down_face:)

After four seasons + the Dark Gallifrey stories I still don’t feel like the War Master is giving me anything but “Generic Master Vibes™”…

Are you turning into me! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Though I actually agree with @deltaandthebannermen, Anti-Genesis was basically fine, and I actually found Narvin’s characterisation to be a bit weird. But I did enjoy it. Honestely, the rest of the boxsets are much of the same in terms of quality and tone, and the only one that was genuinely standout was Killing Time, which I think was quite polarising as well. I really liked it, but many didn’t

I had a very menial factory work for almost four years where I had about the first 150 Main Range releases + the first 8 seasons of Gallifrey basically on a loop 7-9 hours a day. I heard A LOT of Gallifrey, so how could I not love Narvinectralonum with a passion?

On the subject of The War Master range, I’ve only listened to Only the Good and did not like it at all.

Beneath the Viscoid was a barren and bare bones thriller with no substance that did little to excite me.

The Good Master was actually pretty fun, simple and tense with some interesting ideas (plus, I liked Cole)

The Sky Man might be the most overrated story I’ve ever listened to. Cole is no longer compelling and whilst the ending is great, 75% of the story is predictable trudging.

The Heavenly Paradigm was fine, it felt somewhat anticlimactic and the story wasn’t all that eventful but it had a cool idea and the Master being a truly evil son of a bitch.

Overall, I’m not too keen to return to The War Master range. If there are any sets that are better or do more with the character, I’m up for giving it another shot but considering The Sky Man is considered his best story in many circles, it doesn’t give me much hope.

I did not have a menial job to listen to audios in, but I have listened to all of Gallifrey on loop manyyy manyyyy times so, same  There is no other option but to love him. It is the only correct answer
