Formerly a big Doctor Who fan who fell off with the Chibnall era.
Recently I’ve seen a lot of stories about the end of the Gatwa era, as well as rumours that the show might be going on hiatus. I’ve also seen the Chibnall era being slightly reevaluated, people saying it wasn’t as bad as people initially thought.
So I’ve decided to engage in a big rewatch of Doctor Who (mostly Nu-Who, but I will watch some of the Classic series as well. All of it if eventually if I can find the time). I hope to make it through the Chibnall era and beyond this time. Anyway whilst browsing through the internet looking at Doctor Who content, I came across this site and was delighted. I love being able to rate & rank the media I consume. This site allows for all of this in a fun and convenient way.
I will be reviewing the stories I watch, so feel free to read my thoughts and tell me why I’m wrong. I look forward to embarking on this journey, hope some of you will come with me.
Hi and welcome to the forum! I’m currently rewatching the Chibnall era, as 13 is my favourite Doctor I am interested to see if your thoughts change on a rewatch!
I hope so. I obviously had issues with the era at the time. But I always thought Whittaker was great in the role. I’d love to rewatch it and discover that the show is as good as it’s Doctor during that era.
It’s going to take a minute to get there though, but when I do I fully intend to write down my thoughts as I go through it.
Rewatch has been fun so far (only 5 Eps in though). It’s weird going back to 2005 for the first time in ages. The show is the same in a lot of ways, but definitely different in others.
This site has been a blast to look around as well. I expect to be making good use of this resource. Both to help organise my rewatch, and as somewhere to put my thoughts.
Great to have you here - I look forward to seeing what you think of the Chibnall era this time round, it’s probably my favourite (Maybe tied with Capaldi and Colin)
I’m a little concerned with rewatching 11 to be honest. The show has some faults in that era, but it was when I was at the height of my fandom. So I’m worried that I might inflate how good 11 is in my mind, because more than the rest 11 feels like ‘my Doctor’.
I’m sure I’ll still love Troughton though. The big issue with 2 is that it’s the era that’s worst affected by all the missing episodes.
How lovely to hear that you’re going through all of New Who again—please share your opinions as you watch. I’m sure we’d all love to chat about the ups and downs of Who with you.
And aren’t this site and forum just lovely? Easily my favourite corner of the internet ever since I first joined over a year ago! We have @shauny to thank for all of this!
