I’ll admit, if we’re going to have that functionality, I’d also like to be able to filter for only stories that do or don’t have quotes.
Not sure it’d be useful to anyone else, though. I mostly would like it so I can go around adding quotes to stories that don’t have them easier…
Sure, I can definitely add that filter. It’s on my list!
My new “Exclude Characters” filter really slows down the filter pages when it’s visible - because it’s such a hefty beast.
So I’m looking into a way of caching things better to speed up the pages. Results are amazing, but it means having to rebuild the part that gets your ratings on the story boxes, otherwise you see other people’s ratings. It will be a big task but definitely worth it!
That’s on my list to look into.
I haven’t been happy with the speed of the site since I added the exclude characters filter, and checking the stats this morning wasn’t a pretty sight, everything is much slower.
So I made the difficult decision to remove that filter, and try to find a better way to do it. Which may take some time.
It was a cool feature but not worth slowing everything down for everyone, just for one filter that may not get used much.
It’s currently reindexing, the site should speed up again soon.
Added a “Has Quotes?” filter, so you can more easily find stories that don’t have quotes. Please add quotes to stories that are missing them! 
Seems like Tales of the TARDIS generally doesn’t tend to have quotes. I’m surprised on how little of classic doesn’t have quotes, but I suppose I have been concentrating on adding quotes from classic.
Interesting to see stories like “Partners In Crime” and “Father’s Day” sitting there with no quotes…
I should probably make Tales of the TARDIS inherit quotes from the main stories… but then what if there are quotes that were cut? Hmmm.
Yeah, that’s the main problem. You’re safe quoting the extra bits, of course…

I went through a while ago and made sure that every 13 episode has at least one quote but now I’m feeling tempted to do the same for all her eu stuff…
One of the worst bits is when you want to make sure a story gets a quote, but it’s not a story you care for that much, and you keep getting the urge to add the worst bits of dialogue as a quote…

Had a very frustrating day yesterday when everything seemed to go wrong and I wasted a lot of time trying something that didn’t pan out.
But I’m looking on the bright side that it means I’ve ruled out something and can try other things!
Had a long car journey today (yes I’m away again for a week…) and managed to really concentrate and work on something else. It’s going to take a little while before I launch it but if it works it should speed up the site considerably 
very exciting.
When I’m back I’ll finish off adding all the variations of stories and then I plan on sending out a newsletter about that feature because it’s going to be a pretty unique feature of the site!
Oh and I also yesterday went through loads of the anthologies and set them to short story instead of book which will help with stats but it does mean I need to tweak the badges as there are now way fewer books on the site than before.
I might make a new badge for short stories as well.
I have a very long list of badges to add, you should see it! Just have so many things to add and not enough time at the moment

It’s been a crazy year of travelling, after August I should have loads more free time and will try to finish off as much as I can.
I have a target goal to finish the new design and complete the database as much as we can before March because rumour has it that’s when Season Two will begin…
Is selecting how many results per page no longer a thing? It’s currently at 20/page and there’s apparant way to select differently.
“Should” is the keyword here I suppose. You never know when the Universe is calling for you!
I removed the ability to change it for now, and reduced the initial number, just to improve load time of certain pages. It was just a quick change because some pages (particularly looking at someone’s uncompleted stories on their profile) would be very very slow.
I’ll update it and make it more targeted. I think it will also be only for people who are logged in. Maybe the bigger numbers only for patrons, too.
Do you use it a lot? Which options would you like?
It’s definitely a feature I use if I’m ticking off large numbers of collectables. It was a bit annoying I had to keep skipping pages when I was adding my DWA issues to the site…
Another feature which is coming soon (™) is I’ll be adding “bulk complete” and “bulk skip” to sets.
