Just looked it up. An Americanised version, created by Max Landis :grimacing:

Same actor who played Cicero for Big Finish and Norton Folgate for Torchwood.

It was weird, but also quite enjoyable. The first season is better than the second. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a third season which left some loose ends hanging.

There was also this version from the BBC but I never actually got around to watching it and it’s not currently on iPlayer:

That was what I thought you were referring to.

I’ve seen both, and I vastly prefer the more recent one. The 2010 tries to be more faithful to the books, but in doing so it loses a lot of the charm that comes from Douglas Adams’ prose, that simply vanishes when you move from a book to tv. The 2016 one understands that, and makes an effort to replace the stuff that gets lost with stuff that’s unique to TV

I did start watching Dirk Gently (for Samuel Barnett - as an aside, it’s weird to actually watch him act, rather than just hear him) but never actually got around to finishing it. Maybe now I’m done with GCSEs I’ll get to that.

Season 1 is sooo good. I think I actually rewatched it immediately after finishing the finale, just because the ending recontextualizes everything. And even with the knowledge I had then, it was still very enjoyable.

People have told me the books are better, but as someone who hasn’t read them, I just enjoyed the show for what it was.

For some reason, Season 2 never really gripped me, and I never watched more than the first few episodes.

Curious to hear your thoughts once you’ve finished watching!

I read the first book hundreds of years ago and the only thing I remember is that it’s basically Douglas Adams reusing his Shada stuff  . I can’t actually remember if I’ve read the second but I do have a copy.

Well, he was also reusing his City of Death stuff…

And Life, the Universe, and Everything was him reusing his rejected “Doctor Who and the Krikkitmen” story.

This has become one of those series where I can’t be half on TG and half watching. About 10 minutes into the second episode I put my laptop away and just watched. Every scene is packed with so much and there are so many characters but I’m loving it. Samuel Barnett and Elijah Wood are brilliant.

& where does your actual job factor into the equation??
