Ahh, well I haven’t watched that far. Good to know! Maybe I’ll use Lost as her gateway to DW
Now I want to watch Lost as well!!!
If you have Netflix, it’s currently on there (here in Finland at least).
Edit: and it’s on Disney+ as well!
It is not availability; it is time that is the problem
Well there’s no harm in putting on a DW episode and seeing what she thinks…
The thing is, she’s kind of decided beforehand that it’s not for her because a) it’s sci-fi, b) it has constantly changing leads, which she finds annoying, c) she finds it’s a silly family show no real adults watch and d) she already thinks I spend too much time with it and wants to use our time together watching something else. And I’m wise enough not to push her too much on the subejct…
I agree with her on point D
K9 would be “something else”?
As for Lost. I gave up after s1 when it became quite clear they were making it up as they went along.
If she knew I’ve spent some of my life watching K9, she’d probably ban me from consuming any DW media ever again
I really want to watch The Last of Us, mainly because the director of my favourite movie directs an episode, but because we’re with Virgin TV we don’t get the only channel it’s shown on and my parents flat out refuse to get Now TV.
I’d get it myself but I’m running low on money
I remember I was so obsessed with Lost and I listened to a podcast by the writers, they said with all honesty that everything that happens was realistic and based in science
Well that was a lie!
That is fair to be honest
Just seen they’re turning Heartstopper S4 into a movie instead of a series, and it will be the final ! I haven’t seen S3 yet but I did love S1/2.
I hope it’s beyond your budget…
I have found
A new ship.
I feel like that list was actually written into her marriage vows…
“Til K9 do us part”
I’ll set up a GoFundMe.
She probably regrets now that they weren’t…
You really want to get me into trouble, don’t you?
It’s already been a few weeks since I finished watching Reacher Season 3. Worst season so far.
My current opinion: Season 1 is a brilliant interpretation—probably an enhancement of the source material—while still preserving the spirit of the story. I say “probably” because, after reading just a few pages of the book, I gave up, so I can’t be certain.
Season 2 was not as brilliant, but I’m a sucker for ‘group of misfits’ stories. It tugged directly at my heartstrings and is my personal favorite.
Season 3, while following the same pattern as the previous seasons, felt lacking in comparison.
Brutal vigilantism is at the core of Reacher. The protagonist has no qualms about hurting or killing “bad guys,” and the stories make sure that the villains he targets are truly despicable. However, the moral compass of the supporting characters adds nuance to this theme.
In Season 1, the good guys absolutely had qualms about killing people without due process. While the story eventually pushed them into situations where they saw no other option, it was clear that this was not their usual modus operandi.
Season 2 followed the same pattern.
In Season 3: The FBI agents come across as vigilantes themselves—detaining people unlawfully and even torturing prisoners. While the show portrays them as being further along the “we see no other way anymore” journey compared to their counterparts in previous seasons, it’s evident that torturing people was not new to them.
Reacher, on the other hand, appears even more raw and brutal this season. In-universe, that does make sense; his lifestyle would logically lead him down a darker path. The season ensures that later on, he faces opponents whom the audience has been given ample reason to despise. However, some of his early killings—wow, those were unsettling.
Theoretically, with the - do not read the spoiler for episode 1 if you haven’t watched it yet - bluff at the beginning of the season, the show introduces the thought-provoking idea of what would happen if Reacher were wrong. But ultimately and immediately, everything turns out fine.
In my humble opinion, Reacher Season 3 takes things a step too far. Even in a show like this, I don’t want to feel as though it’s glorifying the idea of disregarding due process without offering any counterbalance.
I’m not sure if I’m being hypocritical by seeing a difference in this regard between Seasons 1 and 2 versus Season 3, but that’s how I feel. After watching Season 3, I actually find myself not rooting for another season of Reacher.
