TV Time -- (but not Doctor Who)

What platform? Love a comedic crime drama.

We still haven’t finished it, one episode left but we have zero motivation to finish it, apart from my completionist tendencies.

It’s just so bad, ugh.

What a coincidence that I read this today - the cast for the next series of Taskmaster has been announced and my friend is trying to convince me to watch it because (whispers) I’ve never seen a single episode

Finished this yesterday and it was good. I would recommend it if you like crime series.

Disney+.

It’s firmly in the cosy area, occupying a very similar space to Monk.

From the off I couldn’t find a way in because to have their home planet and society hew so closely to Earth felt like a mistake. I liked it turning out that they were sheltered from the events of the main trilogy and I thought 3 of the 4 kids were good, with the remainder being one of the most annoying child performances I’ve seen in years.

That was a big drag factor for me and what I’m finding jarring with Marvel and Star Wars shows is the short run time. Ostensibly big shows like this lasting around half an hour without credits with a week’s wait makes the whole thing feel stilted and inconsequential.

This is a criticism I have even of shows I enjoyed (Agatha for example) so this one felt all the more stilted and inconsequential because I found myself just not caring at all. I’d watched 30 minutes of white noise.

Lengthening the episodes and reducing the episode count could go a long way sometimes.

This will have to suffice for now:

So glad you named a streaming platform I subscribe to!

Haven’t got to Monk yet but we do like a bit of Psych and obviously Murders in the Building, Ludwig and Death in Paradise.

I am fairly certain I know which one you are talking about here…

I really do believe this series would have been better served as a 90 minute movie. “Goonies in Space”, which must have been the pitch made originally, didn’t need 8 half-hour episodes…

I do want Jude Law’s character to pop up elsewhere (this is set around the same time/era in Star Wars as the Mandalorian right? Which begs the question, why wasn’t Carson Teva in one of those X-wings?)

Starting Law & Order Season 5, because I can’t remember where I left off in the previous season.

Genuinely thought he was going to show up…

Yeah, I may have given up on the show.

Well I don’t think there’s any plans for a second season anyways

Re: Skeleton Crew

We finished it yesterday.

I actually enjoyed the last episode, it was a good way to end it.

It’s true it should have just been a movie. If you are fed up just skip to the last one lol.

Bearing in mind how my wife and I found Andor hugely boring despite everyone raving about it being the best Star Wars series, I’m fully expecting to love Skeleton Crew…

Continuing Only Murders in the Building Season 4.

We just started The Time Tunnel in preparation for the BF spinoff! I love 60s SF so I am already having fun

We started rewatching The O.C. during the weekend. Such a nostalgic show. I was a bit too young to watch it when it first aired but it’s my wife’s favourite TV show ever. She knows every single character and plot beat and song in it by heart and keeps quoting things from it as we watch

The first 7 episodes are like the best teen drama show ever made. Then Oliver comes and ruins everything!

Oh yeah, we just watched the episodes with him and it was painful to watch!
