TV Time - (but not Doctor Who!)

Fun Fact: the President has invited Swedish artist Miriam Bryant to the Ball. Consider yourself proud @Tian; usually, only Finns are invited (she’s half-Finn, but anyway).

I’m totally not thinking your president looks rather attractive. Nope.

Well, he’s much younger than our average president (in his 50s), and he’s quite the sportsman and quite energetic, so he’s pretty attractive

We have about 20 different gonks in our living room

Can’t believe just one episode to go of I’m A Celebrity. Sad Oti is out. Danny my favourite to win.

It’s a solid adaptation of the world/introduction to the world. It gets the feel of the world right.

I got bored with Davison, sorry, and moved down my backlog to NBC Hannibal! Very very good.

It’s okay to be wrong about things in Doctor Who. You’ll see the light eventually…

Arc of Infinity is okay… but Snakedance is brilliant (admittedly I’d always been a bit bored by it in the past but I rewatched it recently and found I really, really enjoyed it). And then you’ve got Mawdryn Undead, Terminus and the superb Enlightenment!

This is understandable. There is a lot of boring stories in this era.

I got bored of Snakedance, it just wasn’t as good as Kinda. I really wanted to at least watch up to Enlightenment. I might pick it up again, but I’m very frustrated with a lot of the production choices of the era :sob:

I think a lot of the production choices are just how TV was made in the 80s - certainly based on your observations that I’ve read so far. TV was still a little like theatre on the box rather than nowadays where its often more like a film on the small screen.

I used to think the same about Snakedance as you but, as I say, my recent rewatch saw me finding a huge amount to like, admire and enjoy.

I would not be suprised to learn that TV in the 80s looked like that, but also I complain about bad lighting in theater productions, too. The lighting is the worst offender imo :skull: And Kinda being so good really just put a damper on a lot of the other episodes, which is sad

Carrying on with 911 Lone Star which really has come into its own after being a bit lacklustre at the start. The episode where Marjan is in a car accident was brilliant as was the one we watched tonight where Tommy goes up against a private ambulance firm was great too (and seemed rather apt bearig in mind current events in the US).

We’re also watching one episode of Gavin and Stacey per night in the run up to the new Christmas special. I know lots of people like to piss all over James Corden, but this series is written so well - obviously Ruth Jones is a huge part of that too - and the series is perfectly cast and has such a warmth and a lovely humour that just makes it so rewatchable.

Just finished Day of the Jackal which I think has been fantastic and made a start on Skeleton Crew, which hasn’t grabbed me yet.

The idea of suburbia in the Star Wars universe would be a thing I guess, it’d exist somewhere if Coruscant exists but it hews slightly too close to feeling like Earth that straight away something felt wrong. I’m sticking with it of course but it feels like Earth kids mixed up in it, which Luke going on his grand adventure didn’t. I suspect a misstep in that regard and hope the series (and I) can shake it off.

Fern and Neel are fantastic though.
