Just watched episode five tonight. Great series, and even though it’s a comedy drama rather than an out-and-out comedy, its jokes land far better than any of the current sitcoms on TV.
It reminds me a bit of Trading Places, because of the whole plot revolving around John posing as his identical brother in an environment that’s the complete opposite to what he is used to. The ‘liar revealed’ aspect of the plot that always happens in these kind of things isn’t as predictable as it can be either, with John’s old teacher Mr Todd working out for himself that John is posing as his twin brother James, but being perfectly fine with the deception and choosing not to expose him to James’s colleagues.

Pumped for the Like a Dragon show on Prime. I hope it got the same treatment as Fallout.

Just caught up with The Book of Carol before this weekend’s episode and the reunion between Daryl and Carol managed to be quite affecting, very nicely done.
I think I’d still say this was my favourite of the new Walking Dead series. I enjoyed the first season of Dead City (found The Ones Who Live to be very flat) but the shake up in the move to France for the Daryl series is a breath of fresh air.
Plus I went to Mont-Saint-Michel on a school trip in 1997 and have hazy but fond memories of it, and it looks absolutely breathtaking in the show.

While I don’t have a subscription at the moment, I noticed I could watch the first episode of season 5 of Lower Decks for free on Paramount+'s website.
It was a great episode. Shame this is the last season, and shame I don’t have access to the rest of the season at the moment…

Okay, so we finished Andor last night.
Sorry - worst Star Wars series so far.
Episode upon episode where nothing happens and when it does, it makes little to no difference. I mean, the prison escape was cool but that entire part of the plot - what was the point? No one that’s looking for him even knows he’s there.
What was the point of the Mon Motha plot? She needs some money so allows her daughter to enter into an arranged marriage to get it? And that took 12 episodes? The guy who lost his job - what was the point of him? I cheered when blond nasty lady started getting mauled but then she gets rescued and has a scene in a room with lost-job guy and then that’s it. Skarsgard suddenly wants to kill Andor? I assume because he can identify him. Shona and Belinda just spend whole scenes being moody with each other.
This honestly felt like 4-6 episodes worth of plot stretched out to 12 with too many different characters with names I can’t remember talking about an awful lot of things which have very little to do with each other.
Star Wars series ranking so far for the Delta household:
- Obi-Wan Kenobi
- The Mandalorian
- The Book of Boba Fett

Couldn’t agree more, we couldn’t even make it past the second Andor ep before we tapped out

I’m glad it’s not just us. Everyone- it seemed - (including our eldest), said it was excellent; best Star Wars series; etc etc. I really had to convince my wife to give it a go as she thought it wouldn’t appeal to her. She’s never going to trust me again! I mean I’m glad we watched it and there were some good bits in there - and a very, very, very good cast. But I know I didn’t understand half of what was going on. Who was that Keegar guy they were banging on about in the last few episodes? What was the point of ‘lost-job’ guy? Doc Brown disappeared about half way through (save for a brief appearance at the end). Lots of things seemed to happen off screen and there were just way too many characters to keep track of. I suppose that was part of the point - showing the burgeoning rebellion from different viewpoints and the growing control of the Empire and the Emperor but…
No. Sorry.

In other news, we’ll probably start Only Murders in the Building Season 4 this week - so that’ll be good.

I love Andor, but had I worn the cowboy-hat instead of Dave Filoni it would have been Ahsoka that had the 12 episode run instead.
That was the show that desperately needed those extra episodes to make it a good show.
(And not have axed the Acolyte, I loved that show (even with the terrible force witch chanting).)
Or just try to make streaming services more aware of how many episodes is needed in a season in regards to the story being told.

I’m open to being helped to understand the appeal of Andor - or even what the hell the story actually was. I mean, I don’t even think Cassian Andor was well-acted or very interesting as a character.

I think that the show is probably very good, otherwise there wouldn’t be so many people liking it. But I also think that it got/gets blown out of proportion.
My theory is, that the ‘Anti-Woke’ crowd really pushed it, because it’s the least offensive new show to them. And we know that their push can shape public perception with how the hate for ‘Last Jedi’ grew and grew.
So you are not weird for not liking it. You would also not be weird for liking ‘The Last Jedi’.

Am I then weird for loving both Andor and The Last Jedi (4th best Star Wars movie)?

You are probably someone who likes Star Wars then😂

What I am trying to say is, that it is very easy to go on the internet and think there exists only one opinion on a specific think.
