You just want to be part of Scandinavia Victorious!
I just went down a wiki rabbit hole and fell over this relating to TLV
Does anyone have these DW newsletters from 4 years stashed away somewhere or know where to read them?
I might have them buried on my email list but this was a few years ago so likely they’ve got deleted by now.
My TLV journey continued with The Waters of Mars, the first novel and some Daleks today!
The Waters of Mars = 10/10
It’s just a superb piece of televised Doctor Who that has nothing to do with the event other than to serve as a source of inspiration. But this probably ends up being one of the best stories in the event.
What the TARDIS thought of TLV = 8/10
I always like stories told by the TARDIS, and this is a pretty good one. It shows that the TARDIS decided to bring the Doctor to the Dark Times to teach him a lesson after The Waters of Mars and also teases that Eight and Nine are dragged into the adventure. Short but sweet.
I’ve read about half of The Knight, The Fool and the Dead so far, and it’s fun, fast-paced Who by Steve Cole. Brian the Ood is the best part of it right now; he’s simply a marvellous character!
Oh, and I cheated a bit and jumped ahead to complete the first two (and short!) Dalek items.
The Last Message = 5/10
This is a one-minute trailer of a Dalek warning about the Doctor. Nuff said!
The Last Message (Eaglemoss) = 6/10
This is a prose version of the above, but also offers some insight into Dalek lore and leads directly to the Daleks! animated web series.
Tomorrow, I’ll finish the novel and read the first comic. And then it’s time to tackle some audios! I’m skipping the Daleks! series because I watched it a few months back and don’t fancy a rewatch right now
I understand this but I would recommend watching it with the TLV context. I did not like it on my first watch but thought that it was okay when I saw it as part of TLV.
That Drag Queen is the fabulous Tia Kofi who is a huge Doctor Who fan and often does Doctor Who drag (along with another Drag Race winner, Laurence Chaney, who is also a huge fan). Here’s some of their Doctor Who-inspired drag.
(Tia is on the right)
Laurence serving Eldrad…
I think you mean the right…
That’s what I said…
This is the only one I can find on the newsletters:
Maybe I should relisten to the 8th Doctor TLV audios I own… Haven’t heard them since release, nor the non 8 ones.
Hmm, okay then. I will watch Daleks! again, with the TLV context in mind. It’s not going to take a very long time at least!
(But I’ll only do it if @shauny grants me another Daleks! badge…)
Well you can use the “Log A Repeat” button to show that you’ve watched them again. In future there will be badges to do with that. So maybe a future version of you will get a badge for doing it!!

Hi, your Data Worm here.
Just back from another mission into the Archive of Islos, digging up some secrets of the Dark Times. I really work so vrrr vrrrrr hard for you.
Here’s a weird fact – Time Travel back to the Dark Times is impossible. There’s a block around them. Many believe that Rassilon (founder of the Time Lords) put up an impenetrable barrier around them. But why? Was it to stop the time-capable races from travelling back and altering the origins of the universe we now have? Whatever, not even during the Darkest Days of the Time War could anyone manage to go back there.
What would happen – just take a moment and think about this – what would happen if the Time Lords and their Laws Of Time weren’t around anymore? Is there anything to stop you from going back to the Dark Times? And if not, then what would you do there? If you put a stop to one of the harmful species lurking back there, what would the consequences be to our universe? Just a bit of food for thought.
I’ll tell you this, though, we should have a chat about the Kotturuh – the Bringers of Death. Did you know they’re so scary that the Eternals ran away from them? And have been running ever since?

Hi, your Data Worm here.
Let’s talk about the Great Vampires. There’s a lot about them hidden inside the Archive of Islos. Did you know that they’ve an entire and complicated society that’s structured exactly like a chocolate fountain, only the chocolate sauce is blood and the marshmallows are their undead servants? Okay, not one of my best analogies, but the mental image will linger with you all day.
As well as the Great Vampires, there’s also their Coffin Ships which they used to transport themselves through the Cold Wastes at the edge of the Dark Times. The Coffin Ships were crammed full of their servants, including the lethal Bloodsmen (you’ll find out more about them here). They weren’t full vampires – just conditioned to obey their awful masters.
But what became of the King Vampire? The Greatest of the Great Vampires? After the battle his body went missing? Well, I’ve a clue for you.

Hi, your Data Worm here.
There’s a lot of stuff in the Archive of Islos on the Lesser Order Of Oberon. Did you know they’re a group of very available assassins? You can hire them quite cheaply. Honestly, next time you send me through one of your shoddy data briefs, I swear I’ll set them on you – I may just be a data worm, but I’ve got savings, you know.
I’d love to know how one of their order ended up in the Dark Times, though. I’ve heard a rumour that the answer is here.
There’s also some stuff in the Archive about the planet Mordeela. It’s said to be a gateway to the last universe, containing the very last energy from that universe, which powered the Kotturuh. They used the energy from it to bring their Gift of Death to the people of the Dark Times. Also, looking at the pictures, it would have made a truly horrible holiday destination.

Hi, your Data Worm here.
Here are some things you don’t know about the Hond. They were a Forbidden Race who lingered in the shadows of the Dark Times – they were a terrible miscreation, a being who experienced life only through pain.
The Kotturuh judged them, and for once their judgement was considered a mercy. So what are they doing attacking the Dalek Empire?

Hi, your Data Worm here. It’s all kicking off in the Archive of Islos at the moment.
I’m trying to find you information about the Record of Rassilon – did you know that there was a Rassilon who fought against the Great Vampires and also a Rassilon who founded the Time Lords. Could they really be one and the same?
I’ve been searching in the Archives, and I’ll tell you something – the answer apparently lies inside the Dark Tower on Gallifrey, in a chamber called The Shame.
Yes I do-

Hi, your Data Worm here.
Just back from trying to interface with a Dalek Battle Computer. Listen, has anyone seen the Doctor? Because I’ve got a warning for them. The Daleks are up to something. The Doctor thinks that Daleks need his help because they’re vulnerable – but actually the reverse is true.
The most deadly Dalek of all is a frightened one, and the Daleks are terrified. The Dalek Emperor has a plan, one the Dalek Strategist doesn’t even know about. All I can say on an open channel is that the Doctor cannot trust the Daleks. Not even when the Doctor has the upper hand.

Hi, your Data Worm here.
It seems the Doctor hasn’t listened to my warning about not walking into a trap. Meanwhile, the Dalek Battle computer assures me it is all kicking off across the Dalek Empire.
Have you ever wondered how you become Dalek Emperor? There are very few recorded Dalek Emperors and they all have a uniquely different personality. The Restoration Emperor might not be the most intelligent or the most cunning Dalek Emperor, but it is certainly the most aggressive. I realise I’m telling a Time Lord to suck eggs, but no-one should trust it.

Enter Enter Zero Stop Mechanoid. Friend. Mechanoid. Follow. Fear. Death. Stop.
Sorry about that. I’m inside the Copper Orrerry on Mechanus, city of the Mechanoids. I’m trying to learn all I can about the Daleks’ old adversaries. They were originally created as robot builders for Earth Colonists terraforming worlds for a company called IMC. However, when the colonists failed to turn up (due, it seems, to a Dalek-manipulated war on the space frontiers between the Human and Draconian empires), the Mechanoids achieved sentience and became a force of their own to be reckoned with. For the Daleks to beg them for help, things must be serious…

More to update in version 2 of the Guide.
To do:
- Add Secrets of Time Lord Victorious
- Remove Shattered Glas
- Mention the Bluray list
- Add: a small YouTube video on here with a Drag Queen going to visit Time Fracture
Anything more @BillFiler ?
If you notice something @MrColdStream please feel free to add it. I will write version 2 in a couple of weeks.
No I think that’s it
I wonder where this should be in the timeline…
Well that’s my hard work searching through my emails from 2020 wasted…
Well I suppose they should be placed at eight different places in relation to when the newsletter was released in the release order of TLV…
But that does seem like a bit of work to work out where everything goes.
Maybe just place them as an appendix to the whole event? (After the Epilogues)
That is what I was thinking as well.
Do I buy the books so I can do this? Hmmm. I’ve just been press-ganged into buying the Heroes and Monsters collection but that was less than £3. These are a bit more but then I do have an Amazon gift card balance I could use towards them.
But then I’m also not a fan of that whole character beat for the Tenth Doctor of the Time Lord Victorious. Didn’t like that at all so do I want to read books and listen to audios totally focussed on that.
Convince me either way people.
