The Year In Review Thread (Spotify Wrapped/PlayStation/Nintendo/Xbox/TV Time)

I’m not really a music listener like from streaming and such. Might be old fashioned, but when I listen to music it’s often on the radio. I only just got Spotify this year purely to listen to Doctor Who… So I can easily guess what my most listened ‘artist’ is going to be.

I don’t use Spotify much– I don’t pay for it which means there’s too many adverts! I mostly use my brother’s Apple Music (thankfully he doesn’t mind…)

I expect the hard hitters will be back this year—Sufjan Stevens, Julien Baker, Gruff Rhys, the Mountain Goats, Squid. I’ve also been listening to a lot of the National last year and this year—I’ve fallen hard for them!

Gorillaz have been my top artist and I’ve been in the top tiny something % of their listeners every year since I’ve started using Spotify, but I’m sure that’s changed as my music taste changed dramatically towards punk thanks to a festival last year then went the other direction and mellowed out midway through this year!! I expect to see Be Your Own Pet and Lambrini Girls on there but also some Cordelia, and I wouldn’t be too surprised if Gorillaz still sneaked on there too as a relic, oh and of course Murray Gold!!! He was the backing track for my coursework at university aha

I don’t listen to music much, I always have no idea who “well-known” musicians are. I do however listen to doctor who and Lord of the rings soundtracks to fall asleep, so it’ll probably be those

And mine will have a chunk of Big Finish as I’ve been listening to a few Audio Club stories via the app simply because it was easier than digging out my CDs.

Imagine waking up one morning and noticing that @deltaandthebannermen has deleted the website! It would be a sad day!

Don’t even joke about that!

Shut up! I’m not that bad! It was only a Spotify playlist! Don’t make @shauny rescind my access!

i had a dramatic shift in my music taste in late october and i’m wondering whether that will make it onto my wrapped (because i’ve heard they stop recording the data at the end of october so they have time to crunch all the numbers).

(I have hourly backups every day for 30 days. It’s not going anywhere!)

My music listening depletes when I start having to do uni work and spend all my time listening to things like rain sounds so I can focus, but I think I listened to more than enough Fall out Boy all year to make them unquestionably at the top of my list.

I listened to my top song 74 times… slacking on last year when I listened to Thick Skull by Paramore 358 times  I’m at about half the minutes I’ve been in previous years too - I need a Big Finish Wrapped bc that’s where all my listening has gone!

Can you guys guess which song we played at our wedding and I might have listened to a lot to remember that day.

The others are mostly things my kids like :joy:

I listened to podcasts about Doctor Who and my football team.

I love them too! I even went to see Darren Hayes in concert with my wife and it’s literally the only concert I’ve ever been too!

The Great Impersonator came out in late October so it’s very under-represented in my wrapped despite instantly being my favorite album of the decade so far and having been on loop for most of the last 6 weeks, but Halsey still made #1. Also the second year in a row that Fireworks by Mitski has been my top song because it’s become one of my go-to songs for when I need one song on loop for a several hours to self-regulate
