The Year In Review Thread (Spotify Wrapped/PlayStation/Nintendo/Xbox/TV Time)

With Spotify Wrapped confirmed to be going live any day now, I thought now would be the best time to create this thread.

What does everyone think will be on their Spotify Wrapped? Personally I think mine will be full of variations on The Ballad Of The Witches Road from Agatha All Along, because I loved that song from that show.

No doubt mine will be Paramore, and possibly Brahms, though I think I listened to a lot of random stuff this year, and no albums I got obsessed with.

My top artist will definitely be Midnight Oil by a clear margin. Probably Beds are Burning for top song

My top artist is probably Pella Svanslös. A cat without a tale that is popular here in Sweden.

I’ve really not listened to much music this year. I used to listen while coding but don’t anymore really.

So it might be my workout playlist, or a Doctor Who album

I use Apple Music though, not Spotify.

I don’t even look at my Wrapped. I wait for the last.fm Year In Review, which takes into account the entire year from January to December.

Yeah I use last.fm too but that requires manual scrobbling (which I do with an app) and doesn’t always catch everything.

Also it annoys me that these things won’t count any music that I listened to while someone else played it from their phone - I know that’s pretty impossible (unless we all walk around Shazamming all the time) but it makes me sad lol

Yeah, it’s not perfect, sadly. But then again, I usually feel better about it. I remind myself that I only started tracking my music listening in 2017, and I have missed out on 20 years of music tracks, so I won’t have it all checked anyway!

I use Pano Scrobbler to scrobble my music and it works without fail (only available for Android). If the last.fm servers are down, it saves the scrobbles locally until they can be uploaded into last.fm.

Hehe, I’m a bit obsessive about this, and I tend to scrobble music I hear on car radios, or in bars, stores, or other public places by Shazaming the song, after which Pano automatically scrobbles it to last.fm.

I also have a secondary last.fm account (I’m crazy, I know), which I use to track my podcasts, BF audio and YouTube because I don’t want them cluttering my music feed.

I don’t really do Spotify, so nothing would be on my list. I generally listen to either mp3s I own, youtube, or amazon music…

I’m sure mine will be a mix of Green Day, NOAHFINNCE, and The ballad(s) of the witch’s road.

If I had to make a guess, I believe my list contains a lot of film music (mostly John Williams) and alternative rock, maybe some Benjamin Ingrosso, because I played a lot of his music before the concert this summer. Oh, and Eurovision of course.

I know!! I used to get so grumpy that Spotify’s Wrapped data is just January to October! I like that PlayStation does it for the whole year - it even updates throughout the month during December.

When music reviewing was a hyperfixation of mine I remember basically fighting Spotify for my full lifetime data so that I could make my own graphs out of it. :joy::joy:

Best 2024 book I’ve read is Penance by Eliza Clark.

Best 2024 Doctor Who book I’ve read is obviously The Giggle by James Goss. :boom:

Mine will be skewed by the fact we use my account at church to play instrumental music before and after the service. The rest will no doubt be the usual selection of musical soundtracks I’ve had on repeat. I’ll be interested to see what comes out on top as I accidentally deleted my favourite song playlist earlier in the year and have been slowly repopulating it.

(Now I’m worrying about giving you access to edit the website…!!)

I use Apple Music, not Spotify. I expect my top artists to be Catatonia and The Pierces, as those are the ones I’ve had on loop for most of the year.

I’ve no idea how I did it but I do have a habit of deleting and restarting playlists - I find it sort of therapeutic. I obviously just clicked on the wrong one.

I promise I’m more careful with the website!
