So excited for this one
Rochana Patel has done some killer stories and promises this one will be on the scarier side, I really can’t wait!
I’m also excited, based on Rochana Patel writing this one. I’m hoping this is a bit of a step up from the last two releases though - I enjoyed Return of the Doctor but didn’t think it did anything massively original, and I found Lionesses in Winter quite deeply baffling, with some decent moments. I’m hoping this is closer to Vampire Weekend, which was exactly what I was looking for out of this range (fresh, exploring new territory for this incarnation, and with a big focus on the Doctor-Yaz relationship).
Yeah, Lionesses was very short and a bit muddled, not a fave. I liked the 13/Yaz stuff in Return so much that I didn’t mind the story wasn’t so groundbreaking. But yeah I’m definitely ready to get a little weird or scary here, let’s do some tones we didn’t get to do as much on TV!
That’s fair, and I probably am doing Return a bit short in my earlier comment - I haven’t done a repeat yet, but I remember enjoying it at release for the same reason. I’m definitely ready for something a bit more out there or hard-hitting now though.
Since Return was the first story from a writer new to Who, I definitely focused on the emotions and character work which I thought was pretty great, I feel like people can work on making their plots more intricate or strange but it’s much harder to learn to wrangle the emotions in a story, so having that part down seemed like a good sign and I’d welcome them back to try again!
I forgot it wasn’t a midnight release. ![]()
I don’t think BF has ever released anything at midnight…
They should have released Chimes of Midnight at midnight.
It’s always about 9am I believe.
Anyone else done it yet?
So we are now a third of the way through this range already!
Saving it for after work today.
Took a walk during my lunch break and listened to this. I thought it was good, much better than the last one. The world-building was good, and I think that the threat was interesting. The side characters were okay but not that special. I am still waiting for Yas to become a bit more interesting. She has some stuff in this story that she faces could be interesting character development for her, but nothing really happens, which is lowering my score a bit. I rate it 4/5.
No.
