The Omega Factor

Well I mean it depends on the Actor, if it’s any of the lovely leads from the Show like Louise, Lalla and so on then it’s the morally good Thing to do! : P

I have my priorities straight (very much not) and they are called Louise Jameson, Lalla Ward and Mary Tamm in no particular order

(in all seriousness, I’m meeting with a friend the next few days and we’re going to stuff all the relevant material into our brains together)

is that not its primary purpose?

With relevant you mean learn more about Louise’s Career, righ- Oh you mean the Exams, yes right, priority, yes right, makes sense!

Episode two: They’re investigating a sort of haunted house and it’s all very creepy, very good episode imo!

I have to be honest, I was not expecting to enjoy this show this much, I thought I’d just watch some okay TV while admiring Louise Jameson (which would have been a good experience too!!) but this is genuinely really good so far (just finished episode three). I love it. The mystery is well done, it’s creepy, the characters are engaging, and I’m in love with Anne Reynolds. Louise is really, really good as her and she’s such a cool character.
Have some more pictures of her :star_struck:

You’re really racing through them! Maybe I undersold how enjoyable it is because I really do love the series too. I just didn’t want anyone to expect a cohesive story because it goes off the rails a bit plotwise. But Tom and Anne are a great team and Anne is SUCH a brilliant character and I have millions of words worth of commentary on that.

I mean, it’s perfectly possible that the later ones are weirder, and of course a lot depends on how the plot threads being laid out right now are pulled together later. And we’re all doctor who fans here, so what’s a cohesive plot to us probably looks different to other people’s ideas

And this is actually a quite relaxed pace of watching for me! (Don’t look at my diary on here. Or in the K9 thread.) I watched one episode in the morning [1] and the other two as evening entertainment just now

  1. morning doesn’t feel accurate as a word what I mean is Vormittag (before midday) or the time between 9/10 to 12 am ↩︎

I’d say the individual episodes all make a relative amount of sense as a self contained unit but the whole Drexel plot arc I honestly have never understood. Might be a me problem but, yeah.

And binging K9 is totally understandable. It’s about the only way to get through it haha

It seems very much like a ‘mystery of the week’ show right now expect the mysteries don’t actually get resolved (not actually a bad move in this type of show imo) and tie to the Drexel plot/that weird girl instead

I feel like the only reason I remember K9 somewhat fondly is because I watched it so quickly and while I was very much out of it due to my wisdom teeth removal [1]. Sometimes I get the paradoxical urge to rewatch it before I remember that there are a myriad of better ways to spend my time

  1. and because I was posting about it on here, I like interacting with people online ↩︎

Morag <3 we named our cat after her! The way the audios treat her is great, she’s kind of forgotten in the TV series. And as far as I remember, you’re right - the show kind of does just end, and it’s not completely dissatisfying but it’s also kind of like oh. ok. is that it.

I still have the urge to rewatch then novelise/rewrite K9 :grimacing:

Watched episode four! They are messing with Anne, that’s so mean :sob: she deserves everything good in the world. Also it appears Drexil has been killed, which I’m always a bit hesitant to believe in this type of show. And I think maybe Tom has also been conditioned and could have been the one that killed him? I don’t know, it seems anyone might be under the control of the evil guys at this point

Ohhh yea this is the put Anne in the torture chamber episode! And uhhhh re your theories, well. Spoilers. It makes less sense from here lmao

Episode 5 gets way more weird. I’m not really sure about this one, a girl gets possessed by an ancient witch? The end scene was very trippy

I barely remember that one if I’m honest but the next two are my favourites - the one with the kid and the one where Anne wears an ugggly dress with the other woman scientist who Anne is in homoerotic conflict with

It’s got a very nothing-y plot, so not remembering makes perfect sense. Best thing about it is Anne’s hair, I love that type of braid

Going to watch the next one now (I had planned to listen to another episode of Gallifrey originally, but I had a bit of a bad day and don’t think my brain would do well with the change in topic, and this show is actually pretty relaxing to watch)

It’s very compelling despite its flaws, I need to watch it again <3

I see why this one (episode six) is one of your favourites! There’s a lot of really good character stuff in it, I feel, and I adore the discussion on the ethics of doing these tests on a child. It has a much more self-contained plot too, which I really like. It’s really good on the relationships between the characters too, especially with the little bit of a love triangle that (starts to?) appear here.

The whole who fancies who thing is deeply baffling to me if I’m honest, all Anne’s ‘‘relationships’’ seemed to come out of nowhere to me.

But the ethics around the experiments with the kid are interesting (yayyy for Anne being unethical and terrible <3) and the guy getting killed by the car at the end moving 2mph is truly beautiful

I can see it with Tom, they make a good team and generally get along, but her and Martindale is just kind off odd, like I’m not actually sure on the specific hierarchy, but he’s kind off her boss too, and it’s totally out of nowhere.

I loved the moment where they’re explaining their positions on the continued testing and she says “I’m in the worst kind of position. I can see both sides”. It’s especially compelling because she’s the one who actually knows and cares about the kid previously and yet she’s the first to do (mild) experiments on him.

And the car thing is so weird. At most that guy should have stumbled. I thought the kid would just destroy the car or something so that he doesn’t have to go the entire sequence long.
