Last Stand may be my favorite of the season. I’m not sure which one I like more between that and All’s Fair
RASTON WARRIORS VS SPECIAL WEAPON DALEKS! I’ve never been so sad that something is audio only
While it is heartbreaking to read your experience @sircarolyn, I’m also very happy that you enjoy this amazing series!
Victory of the Doctor: I have not cried at the end of an audio so hard since like… I don’t even know. I’m a mess. What a perfect, beautiful ending. I could listen to 10000000 more boxsets of Valarie and I wouldn’t be tired of her, I adore her and I adore Roanna. I’m feeling so much right now. Oh my god. You guys were all right, 11V is the best
They’re so perfect and the ending to Victory is so so good…
I love Roann so much. She’s one of my favourite BF original characters! As is Valerie of course!
And I’m amazed how fast you got through them. Ooh, I want to relisten now!
7v is perfect as it is, but oh how I wish I lived in a world Dudman chose to leave after two more series
Valarie Companion Chronicles WHEN
I’m still waiting for my background check to clear for my new job, I’ve got a lotttt of hometime right now haha
Listening to these was an utter delight <3
I enjoyed 11 and Valerie but I really wish I enjoyed it as much as you guys did. Personal taste ofc, I’m just sad I ultimately wasn’t amazed as you guys sound, reading this thread
I’ve been thinking about Valarie all day. I miss her. I miss Roanna. I might have to listen to all of these again like this week. They’ve done something to my brain
Just listened to Spirit of the Season, was quite good. I found “Clara” kinda annoying but the the reunion with Valarie and her mom had me in tears Sorta like the God Complex mixed in with christmas, it was also fun to have a return of the Flying Shark
Finally finished the False Coronets, very fun story, didn’t predict how the story would go but I was pleasantly surprised. The main villain was a bit whatever, but oh my god Tom, I actually liked him, I was enjoying his presence until he got a bit forceful with Jane Austen. Speaking of Jane Austen, I absolutely screamed when I heard her name, I knew exactly what type of story it would be and it did not disappoint.
Now that I’ve finished all of volume 1, this we be my rankings:
The Lightkeepers > The False Coronets > The Top of the Tree > The Calendar Man.
I look forward to listening to Volume 2, though I’ve already listened to 2.1.
It’s not just any theme, it’s the theme that was specifically used in The Snowmen, which was slightly different from the standard series 7B theme. I love that little detail.
Another small detail about themes is that The Snowmen is the only episode to open with the 7b theme but close with the 7a theme. I’ve heard this was accidental but couldn’t find anything corroborating that. Either way, 7V follows suit, opening with 7b and closing with 7a. That’s some attention to detail.
Listened to All Fairs, surprisingly no one its another incredible episode. The writers really like Valarie to be put through it. While it must be really difficult I really like that Hayden and Roanna respect each and are even somewhat friends at the end. I also really love the end that sums up 11 and Valarie’s relationship just so well, " 11: I’m your friend so I’d tear apart the universe for you. Valarie: And I’m your friend so i wouldn’t let you
Finished the set with Sins of the Flesh. Really loved this one, up there as one of my favorite Cybermen stories but more importantly its such a good story about real homophobia and conversion camps and people who use religion to justify their hate.
Finally started listening to Geronimo! I can see why people love Valarie; she’s fantastic. I thought it was a nice touch to mention how dangerous it is to just delete money suddenly in a society built on capitalism, it felt like a very nuanced take. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed to find out that the Doctor just deletes the money anyway and there isn’t any major ramifications. It was a really nice touch for the Doctor to console Valarie on dealing with grief, and how locking yourself away from others can send you to dark places; something the Doctor just recently experienced himself.
Overall a fantastic audio drama, I look forward to listening to the rest.
