For a moment I was so confused, but I only listened to the 11 & Valerie ones!
I do need to do the rest someday.

I did the same. I have the first set but haven’t listened to it. I really should plug that gap (and buy the second set too).
Just listened to the first story of 11 and Valarie and I thought it was fantastic! (It also was nice change of pace from all the 8DAs I’ve been listening to lol) The virus only being on the rig was a cool twist and i’m intrigued by whoever gave the company the virus I’m super excited for the rest of these stories, since several are in the top stories on TARDIS guide
Hope you have fun with one of Big Finish’s best series!
Broken Hearts specifically is a top ten Doctor Who story for me.
Broken Hearts my beloved !!!
I finished the first boxset yesterday!
House of masks was great, and there were some really funny moments like the Doctor and Valarie realising they had both been told to kill someone by the person the other was was told to kill, and Valarie trying to kick the door and everyone going dead silent .
The End was really interesting, but a bit confusing at times. I liked that it showed some real consequences for all the time lords dying that weren’t just the Doctor being mopey. The Doctor’s solution was really clever, using the spiders immunity to the time loop against them. I adore cool timey wimey stuff like that.
Listened to The Yearn today, and was genuinely shocked at how low a score it has compared to the other 11V stories. Yeah, it may be a standard base under siege story, but it’s executed near flawlessly with a great supporting cast.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who was confused at times. It certainly feels like an audio you need to dedicate 100% of your attention to.
Curiosity Shop and Broken Hearts done. I was already greatly anticipating these due to fan concensus, but even so these blew all my expectations out of the water. Broken Hearts especially is a top 10 story in any Who medium for me, and Valarie has shot up to probably my favorite companion. So excited to listen to the rest!
It’s such a fun range,
A little extra slice of 11 (second best modern doctor)
I’m really hoping BF have Valerie travel with another doctor or give her own spin off range as i need more content with her
finished broken hearts! wow, that was fantastic! I love Valarie so much, her not easily forgiving the doctor and holding him accountable was great. I also loved Lionel and Augustus, they were adorable the empathic weather giving them emotions was such an interesting idea, and eleven saying that eight got amnesia a lot made me laugh
Just done the first 2 stories of everywhere and anywhere. This series has no right to be this good.
Spirit of the season was great, I loved all the parts between valarie and her mum, and I thought the side character were well developed.
I liked all’s fair only slightly less. I love valarie and roanna together, all their scenes were really sweet. The reveal that maría was actually mrs Hendricks was really well done, and I’m so glad that they haven’t forgotten about that plot thread, I NEED to know who she is working with!!
However, Hayden got on my nerves and I disliked all the ‘time can’t be rewritten’ stuff (but that was only because I don’t want valarie to end up with Hayden. I love roanna!!)
Wow. Sins of the Flesh was the perfect Cyberman story. It absolutely was as good as i expected, and I don’t think I’ve been this stressed listening to a story in ages. I was so scared for Valarie the whole time, so thank god she was pretty much fine. The ‘redemption suits’ were really creepy, and to be honest, I was starting to be convinced by ‘Alexander’, but the switch to cold cyberleader was fantastic. I think the cybermen work really well on audio, when all you can hear and the sounds of pain and the machines chopping people up, it’s so chilling and effective.
Valarie was amazing here, especially at the end. I love how fearless she is, how she kept trying to save the kids from being cyber converted, despite being the only one speaking out. Her conversation with lily was sweet. I also love how she is so confident and took everything in her stride, not freaking out and panicking when the cyber men turned on her.
Loved the multiple versions of the Doctor at end! He literally has a Time Machine, so it’s great when he really uses it.
The opening scene was pulled me in straight [1]away, and it was so so sad to hear this scared girl being told being gay is wrong, and then the horror I felt, when the cyberman came to convert her. Then the next scene made all this worse, because carmen was obviously not being saved from hell, she was killed and converted, and she seemed happy about it. it’s so tragic I want to curl up in a ball on the floor and cry.
This entire story is definitely one of the best Doctor Who stories for me so far, and it used the cybermen to their full horror potential, while also telling another story with them that was about something different.
I hope I articulated my thoughts well enough, basically I really really loved this
pun intended ↩︎
Just finished Broken Hearts and wow it’s amazing. I can see why it’s highly praised. I love the emotional tension between the Doctor and Valarie. The empathy rain was a great concept and I love the robot subplot. Didn’t think much of the subplot at first then once they decided to keep searching I became invested.
I though the statue was the War Doctor before seeing the cover when listening to the behind the scenes.
Didn’t you kill my mother? was really good! This whole range is full of stories that make me go “what the hell is this??” /pos They don’t feel like typical Doctor who.
It looks like the next story will have roanna in it, which is great because i Love her and Valarie together [1]
I like roanna much more than that American guy from valarie’s future ↩︎
Yeah that american guy didn’t interest me, little bit of a misstep imo
