Taskmaster

Thought it would be fun to have a dedicated Taskmaster thread.

Thoroughly enjoy this series and its one the kids have grown to love too. It’s such a clever format because, really, it never gets tired. The different casts each series keep it fresh and its helped me discover people who I’d never have heard of or come across before, as well as giving us familiar faces too.

What are your thoughts on the show? Who have been your favourite contestants? Which series had the best casts? What are your favourite tasks and moments? What do you think about the various spin-offs and global iterations?

Who do you want to see on the show?

And if you’ve never watched it - what is wrong with you? Go and watch it now! Start at Series 1 and work through!

My favourite season of Taskmaster is Season 7, but that’s closely contested by Taskmaster NZ seasons 2 and 5.

Good idea. I’m a big fan of the show.

I’ve enjoyed the contestants on TM:NZ but I just can’t get a grip on the Taskmaster himself. Paul Williams is a good alternative to Alex Horne but Jeremy Wells just, for me, lacks any sort of charisma or ability to engage with the contestants.

Oh I love Taskmaster so much. Big fan of the current series and how whenever the camera cuts to Mathew Baynton in the studio he looks like he’s on the brink of either hysterical laughter or a complete breakdown

I’ve several favourite competitors, including Julian Clary, Mike Wozniak, Lucy Beumont, and the duo Sue Perkins and Susan Wokoma had going on, but my absolute favourite moment of all time is the Song for a Stranger task (Rosalind’s a ____ing Nightmare makes me lose it every time)

Over on another DW forum I used to frequent, we had a long running Taskmaster thread which often did the ‘who would you want on the show’ discussion. I think almost everyone anyone ever suggested has since appeared on the show with only a few exceptions.

I know Alex wants Stephen Merchant, Richard Ayoade and French and Saunders and apparently they’ve all come close.

But who doesn’t he want back? What do we reckon?

Some of the Wozniakisms have just passed into my vocabulary now

I’m saying Ian Stirling,
He acted like a child whenever he wasn’t winning the tasks

Mike Wozniak was the best thing about Junior Taskmaster by a country mile.

I did love Rhod Gilbert’s series simply because of his unfettered access to Greg’s private life. Ed Gamble’s series had a similar vibe. The best intros are still the things Greg would say about Roisin Conaty in Series 1.

Oh, possibly. I wasn’t as down on Stirling as some people were at the time but I can see how it might irritate people.

My least favourite contestant is Nish Kumar but I didn’t like him before his series and still didn’t like him afterwards. But I doubt he’s the one Alex dislikes though.

I’m a big fan of how unhinged David Correos got on TM: NZ, still hoping for one of the Auntie Donna boys on TM: Australia

I’ve not seen much of the international ones, but i really liked TMAU S2

I’ve not seen every series, and only the UK ones for that matter, but there’s a lot of contestants I love, and/or have a crush on :sob:

Tbh I was worried that later seasons where the majority of the cast I don’t know I wouldn’t gel with as much, but actually a lot of them I’ve loved and gone on to follow them and enjoy on other shows.

I think my first series was 4, and I knew them all bar Lolly and I just love that series so much. Series 15 is a personal fave too, as is Series 16! We’re currently watching S17.
