Ok so this is a feature that Patrons have access to right now, but it’s in Beta and doesn’t work how I want it to work fully yet.
Basically the feature is for if you wanted to do a rewatch, for example you wanted to rewatch all of the Twelfth Doctor stories (and you should!) - it is a way to treat it as if you are tracking it again.
Here’s how I plan to do it, but really looking to get feedback:
It should work like the current Sets feature, except you click “repeat this set” and then it treats it as if you’ve never seen it.
I might make it non-automatic, so you can easily “repeat” individual stories without having to then tell it not to track the whole set again.
The buttons will automatically change so you can more easily and quickly click “repeat” instead of the button be to complete
I think instead of it being a separate area I’d want it to be merged into My Next Story so it’s all in one place? Or is that confusing?
That sounds like exactly how I might want it to work. My ‘next repeat’ jumps around from an audio to a TV story to a comic simply because I’m redoing stories for the threads on here, for rewatching the classic with my eldest (slowly) and for my own marathon. Being able to tell it not to track a set again would be good.
Basically what Delta said. And as someone who is very obsessive about logging my repeats, getting this feature properly redone is of improtance to me. Your plans so far sound like a major step in the right direction and would definitely make the feature work better.
I also would love to be able to remove a repeat. Tried to fix the wrong order in the next repeat and accidentally put another repeat on a story – it did not fix the problem.
I do a lot of repeating and all those plans sound exactly what I would like. Merging repeats into next sounds fine to me because I already know what I’ve already seen, of course
I think I prefer my next story and the repeats to be separate, because it’s different for me when I want to experience something new vs when I want to reexperience something.
I also second the ability to remove repeats I have like one too many on one story and it bugs me so much
Are there any updates on this feature? Especially now that the diary is live? I’d love to be able to log repeats, especially if it’s for something that I consumed in 2024 or 2025 when the year in review is recording. At the moment, I’m treating everything as a new story as far as the diary/year in review is concerned for 2025, but that’s because repeats aren’t a thing for non-patrons. It hasn’t been a big deal because most of what I’ve been consuming has either been stuff I haven’t experienced in a long while or new-to-me stuff. But rewatching Legend of Ruby Sunday made me wish this was a thing. Just curious if there were any updates.
Two big updates to the repeats have just gone live:
First of all, repeats are now available to everyone!
I thought about this a lot, because I know that some people are only Patrons because they wanted access to the repeat feature, and we do need more patrons not less! So I thought maybe making this non-exclusive would cause us to lose revenue.
But I believe that it’s so useful to show the stats of how often people repeat things, that this should be available for everyone, plus I am planning on some big Patron-exclusive features for repeats as well.
The ‘My Next Story to Repeat’ feature will remain Patrons-only, and will be updated with brand new features (mentioned above) in due course.
Secondly, you can now edit your repeats!
Do you just want to organise everything by putting in the exact dates that you repeated things? Or did you just click the button too many times?
Repeats now show in the diary, as another entry with a little ‘repeat’ icon next to them. You can edit (but not bulk-edit) the dates, or delete the repeat from here (click the date to do both).
Here’s an example of what my Diary looks like now:
I don’t think I’ll use this much this year, because it already being a third of the way through the year and the way my brain works. But it will definitely get a lot of use next year for sure.
