Yeah, Dalton would have needed one or two more movies to really hit his stride. I’m not a big fan of his Bond, but The Living Daylights and especially License to Kill are great movies.
I love GoldenEye with Brosnan, but considering how serious it is compared to Brosnan’s later movies, Dalton would have been a perfect fit for it as well.
It’s a direct sequel as far as direct sequels go in Bond’s world and not really that either. I mean, Diamonds Are Forever is literally a direct sequel to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and all the post-Casino Craig Bonds are technically direct sequels to each other, with Quantum most obviously following from Casino and No Time to Die following from Spectre.
Continue on from that, finally watched a Moore one with “Man with the golden Gun” (it has Christopher Lee, so of course, why wouldn’t I pick this first?)
I enjoyed it. I thought Moore was solid in the Role, but definitely one of the weaker Bond Performances. Lee was such a great Villain and I like how he basically meets Bond only around the End, explaining his Story and having a casual charism, which was really enjoyable. Tone wise, this one was all over the place really, I mean the whole Martial Bits made me raise an eyebrow. It was enjoyable, but certainly much goofier than I expected. Especially with a Character like Sheriff Pepper, you could feel that, who feels less like a Bond Character and more so a Character from a Carry On Movie. (Apparently he was in the previous Moore one, but since I haven’t seen that his inclusion feels kinda strange to me and I overall thought he was a bit too much, he works fine for one or two scenes, but he got a bit too much screen time at the end).
Some bits, minus Scaramanga, were definitely by the Character of Andrea Anders, whose Actress did a great Job with the Material, that she was given. The dramatic bits with her works quite well.
If I have a big criticism against this Film, it would probably be that the whole Martial Arts Scene felt very much out of nowhere. It’s a fun campy scene, but overall doesn’t work with the overall Tone of this Film, which while yes can be an over the top (cough Sheriff Pepper cough) does still have an overall cohesive enough tone.
But I had a good Time with it, excited to see more of Moore!
Oh, really? Now that made me even more curios to check it out sooner! Hopefully I will get around to it sooner than later!
Scaramanga “Tyrannus” the White (should be Many Colours ) insta-killing with a Gun made of a far too maleable material, for One Million Dollars (Cue Dr. Evil meme) a hit?
That makes me wonder why they’ve never made a LEGO Game based on the Bond movies, in the style of LEGO Star Wars, Indiana Jones or Lord of the Rings. I would have loved to play through the Bond movies in LEGO format
