I’d personally love to see Sarah Dollard (Face the Raven, Thin Ice) back, she’s really good at creating settings that feel real, and I think 15 could shine in one of her stories.
Sarah Dollard is an excellent shout, I love both her episodes and think they each have a really distinct voice as well. Apparently she has showrunning experience nowadays, so I hope she will be a contender for post-RTD showrunner, even though she hasn’t been involved in the show in about ten years now.
Besides my eternal wish for more Moffat, I absolutely agree with the prospect of getting some BF writers on board - personally, I would love to see Tim Foley and Alfie Shaw writing episodes for the main show. Otherwise, more new writers!
What… no… that’s not possible…
Yeah, I did a bit of a double-take as I was writing it I guess it’s only nine years, as series 10 was in production in 2016 - still an uncomfortably long time though…
Co-Showrunners: Tim Foley & Alfie Shaw
1 Tim Foley
2 Jamie Mathieson
3 Sarah Dollard
4 John Dorney
5 Roschana Patel
6 Georgia Cook
7 Kate Orman
8 Alfie Shaw
X-mas: Inua Ellams
Georgia Cook
I would love for her to get an episode. I think that she did a great job with Ruby Red.
I think that is good but I would like one more RTD in the middle. I think that he is at his top when he writes stand alone stories in the middle of the season.
House of Masks from 11V was her as well. Her current non-dw project, The Holmwood Foundation, is also very good
I’d love more from Maxine Alderton
Mostly new writers please! Though would love some BF ones like Goss, Dorney, Foley, etc. too
I think this has been said in the thread but not quite as strongly as I believe it- I really think Dr Who should move towards a serialised format such as what we saw in Flux. Flux didn’t land perfectly for a few reasons but I do believe Chibs was right to try the format. People don’t really gather the whole family to watch whatever is on telly anymore, which I think is the landscape that modern who was made for, people do have a lot more choice nowadays so are more selective with what they watch, and when they do they decide to watch a whole series or none of it. So make the most of that and tell one big story through that whole series!!
One story going through the whole series, over the top of the individual story format we’ve known for the past 20 years, I think really has the potential to find Doctor Who’s most engaging stories that could broaden the scope of what we see and have more time to develop every character and plot thread. I would so love to see it happen and it’s been shown already that it can be done!!!
I LOVED Flux and I really like every time Doctor Who has done a big story such as Key to Time and Trial. I’d love another!
I don’t want that to be a permanent move - I love monster of the week and TARDIS teams getting to chill and have fun - but the occasional serialised arc would be good
I know I’d much prefer a proper “serialised” arc than “mystery appearance of an old woman every week” that’s for sure…
For S3 -
I’d like some more serialized arcs as well. Doesn’t have to be all the time because monsters of the week can be fun, but a well done arc is a blast. I really enjoyed Flux!
I do agree the mystery woman thing has just about worn out its welcome since they did it twice back to back, but I’d love a subtle over arching mystery similar to Bad Wolf or Saxon. Where it’s not so in your face, but if you pay attention it pays off.
Personally, I want some more historical figure episodes. I always love those and it would be nice to scale down a bit. Not every finale needs to be world ending. The Doctor Falls was small scale with him just trying his best to save a village against overwhelming odds and it was great.
I do hope with season 3 though and that we get some more info on the loose plot threads of the Master in the gold tooth or the Meep’s boss.
Personally, I want some more historical figure episodes.
Yes, especially opening the show up to include more historical figures from the Global South.
