This! I think we can get a bit too tied up in the shortcomings of the current production team, which is often fueled by fear that the show might end if they don’t come up with something good enough, but really what I want is more Doctor Who, and a decent season length.

Following on from today’s 4DAs announcement, what returning monsters would people most like to see in a new season? My top three wishes are the robots of death, the Mara, and the Silence - I think they’re all pretty timeless as concepts and designs, and they all fit well with my desire for the show to move to a more “Hinchcliffe-ian” tone. The only one of these three I could imagine returning under the current team is the Mara, and I’m pretty certain it would be tied in with the pantheon, given the name drop in The Legend of Ruby Sunday - I would definitely prefer the Mara remains its own thing, personally.
I’d love a Morbius return as well (doubly so with Samuel West playing him!), but I don’t want RTD touching the time lords and Gallifrey again with a ten foot pole…

And for a serious answer, I agree with DoctorDisco, I want Kaldor and the robots to come back!! I love their design, and I bet the show could do some interesting stuff with them

It seems so surprising to me that Kaldor has never come back in New Who, especially considering how well beloved Robots of Death is. I think there are still a wealth of stories in there that don’t necessarily have to be the same thing all over again

I’ve always wondered if the robots in Voyage of the Damned were intended as homages, personally - their design and voice is fairly similar. I don’t think they’re a substitute for the real thing though.
