Why do we assume Billie is the next Doctor? She wasn’t introduced as such in the credits, and there hasn’t been any announcement from the BBC, which seems weird.

Anyway, I hope Season 3 sees a return to a bit more traditional New Who-style sci-fi, with Daleks! And/or Cybermen! And Susan and the Boss, of course!

I don’t assume that at all, I’m pretty sure something weird’s going on. However, as far as we know, that scene is going to be the current/most recent Doctor Who for at least 2 years, and her being the doctor is clearly the surface-level implication, so it feels weird to not at least engage with the idea

If she’s not the new Doctor I’d say it’s almost worse. I’d rather they ended it open ended if we didn’t have a confirmed new Doctor.

I want RTD to stay but with a bigger and more diverse team.

Because the Doctor regenerated into her. That is the best explanation that I can find for it. She might not be, but most evidence points to her being the Doctor.

I’ve been thinking this! They’ve got Bonnie too. Make it a multi-Doctor episode with Jodie while they’re at it.

It may just be wishful thinking, but I think Billie is more open to revisiting her music career than she has been in a while. I think (not unlike Chris with DW!) she’s beginning to see how much fondness people have for it.

Honestly, fire Murray Gold.

I cannot recall an episode of this season where Murray hasn’t lumbered in with an overwrought theme that steps all over the actual content of the scene it’s playing over.
