My honest wish is that, maybe apart from the Daleks and the Cybermen, we get NO call backs to past stories next season. It’s fun being fan serviced sometimes, like when it feels celebratory as it did in PotD, but at this point I’m feeling more patronised than anything, like they’re yelling “Remember this thing you liked???” in my face. Let’s stop looking back for a bit, let it grow, yk?
If we’re going to bring stuff back, I’d rather it was done with weight and intent. Like, I love when stuff comes back but it has to be done in a forward motion because the writer has something to say or do about it. The shock gimmick ‘hehe look Classic Who fans I’m dangling this in your faces’ thing has to stop
I’m hoping this incarnation has to deal with some classic enemies like Cybermen or Daleks. I do want The Boss to show up next season and since he is interested in two hearted things then maybe he has Susan and that’s why said “Find me”. Maybe the new face is a warning from Bad Wolf or because he connected to the time vortex via the Tardis it made the regeneration Billie Piper.
I do hope this new Doctor is still the cheerful type and I want to see the reaction to this new face and wondering why is it this face? I mean it does put a new spin on The Moment saying the form it took as Rose/Bad Wolf was from either the the Doctors future or his past.
