7 strikes me more as Branston Pickle
Oh yes great choice.
Maybe 2? I can imagine him having an emergency cheese & pickle sandwich in his pocket when running away from monsters.
I was thinking more 7 because like Branston Pickle, he has hidden depths or something like that
15th Doctor is Hot Sauce
I’d speculate that “Lucky Day” was going to be the “73 Yards” of the series, but I feel like that’s already a given.
I’ll further speculate that “The Story & the Engine” is the “Dot and Bubble” of the series, and “The Interstellar Song Contest” is the “Rogue” of the series.
I’m also speculating that not only is Mrs Flood the God of Stories, she’s a hack writer that reuses the plots of the entire last season when writing her stories and warping reality to them…
I really hope the huge parallels in the storytelling of Season One and Two (and the Susan Twist / Mrs Flood similarities) has some deeper plot meaning but I fear it’s just RTD’s process.
If it were more aligned, with the 73 Yards episode in 2 weeks time rather than next week, I’d definitely think it was intentional. edit: I miscounted
Could be a combination of the two.
Still, imagine everyone’s reactions during the finale if Mrs Flood was revealed as the God of Stories… and then changes into Russel T Davies himself.
Having seen how RTD1 operated, I think this is mostly the case. He likes creating a structure and sticking to it. Even Ruby coming back mid-series feels like a similar motion to what he did with Martha in Series 4.
One thing I was thinking about and am in two minds about:
With Ruby leaving to be with her family, and Belinda never wanting to be with the Doctor at all, and will probably leave to be with her family at the end of this season, we won’t be getting any of that “I’m burning up a sun to say goodbye”, tearing out my heart and stomping on it stuff that I absolutely love RTD for.
In some ways that’s good because it’s something different (even Martha was happy to hang out with him more, just not to go on trips), but also I wish we had a new Doomsday or Journey’s End to completely devastate me again!
He could pull a 180 on us with Belinda - she spends all season wanting to go home, then she does, but she changes her mind once he gets her back to Earth. She wants to stay with the Doctor. He wants her to keep travelling too. But something in the finale tears them apart and stops it from happening.
I don’t see that being where the season is headed, but it could happen!
Could also be that she doesn’t have a job when he gets her back. There are several ways that could happen…
Yeah like she is gone for too long and she is fired, or the entire Earth is blown up and her hospital no longer exists. Something like that.
Or something happened to the hospital, like being shut down after a bunch of people died due to a power outage…
But 73 Yards was episode 4 of season 1! Seems very aligned to me.
Space Babies = RR, Devil’s Chord = Lux, Boom = the Well…
I would enjoy it if it was intentional, but it may very well not be.
I kind of wish Ruby will be a bit angry with the Doctor when they meet up again.
The whole of season 1 Ruby just wants to connect with her biological family and when she gets just that opportunity the Doctor basically forces her to choose between her biggest wish and him.
Really Doctor? Just say “Do your thing, I’ll pop a year into the future and see if my best friend in the universe is ready to travel once again”.
He was such a jerk to Ruby at the end of Empire of Death… Grrrr…
“Wearing a bit thin?”
You mean the scripts?
This is the most cursed GIF ever.
So it should NOT be my new pfp?
That would actually be hilarious I’d love it
