I adore Gorillaz! I haven’t listened to much of Blur but what I have heard is excellent (Coffee and TV would probably be my favourite).
Gorillaz though I would call my second favourite artist/band (it gets confusing) after David Bowie, I adore how varied, genre bending and down right unique it all is, you could put on five Gorillaz songs in a row and none will be even remotely from the same genre at that’s wonderful to me. Demon Days is probably as perfect as an album can get.
I also saw them live in Cardiff earlier this year, they are utterly spellbinding on stage!

Oooh I was at the first Manchester night, the atmosphere was amazing, some songs that I didn’t vibe with originally really went up in my ranking after hearing the live versions.

Demon Days is my favorite album by them. Oddly I found them because I was looking for analysis on the Demon Days graphic novel and happened to stumble on it via YouTube. I’ve heard of Gorillaz for years but it wasn’t till then that I actually engaged with their music.
Those animated videos are awesome! The storytelling is strong. Kids with Guns and Every Planet We Reach is Dead are great.

I’m not a Gorillaz fan, really. I’ve never listened to their music.
I love Britpop, though. Blur is amazing, especially their first four albums. Parklife is a bit of a summer anthem for me but the song I’ve listened to the most is Country House.

Yep! I love it so much, the art is stunning. I don’t recall the plot too much other than epic Japanese fairytale with reimagined X-Men characters, I definitely need to revisit it. Sai was badass. It’s kind of cool, it’s like going from one example of exceptional artistic expression to another with the same name.

I’ve probably said this here before, but Momoko is one of my favourite artists working in the industry at the moment. I own one of the Demon Days one-shots, Shield of Justice. It’s gorgeous.

Genuinely one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. They play all the music videos on massive screens so the visuals are fantastic and Albarn’s stage presence is incredible.

Not only are they the two biggest bands of the mid-90s Britpop era, they were also bitter rivals. They often insulted each other in public, and the tabloids had fun spurring the rivalry. There is a very famous event in 1995 called the Battle of Britpop, where Oasis and Blur both released a new single on the same day to see which band would sell more. Blur ended up winning.
They represent slightly different areas of the UK snd they have different sounds and lyrical content but are part of the same movement.
Oasis is definitely better known outside the UK. Blur moved more into alternative rock later in the 90s, and Song 2 is pretty well known in the US at least.

If you’ve seen Torchwood Series 2, you will have heard blur’s Song 2 in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and Gorillaz’ Feel Good Inc. in Reset.

We Got the Power may be one of the worst Gorillaz songs (I love Humanz, but it really should have just ended with Hallelujah Money), but it’s nice to hear Noel and Damon on a track together.
