What is your most controversial opinion?

This is very true. I agree with this completely. Comic books and graphic novels are visual affairs. Take Sandman and Stardust (I’m choosing these at random), explorations of medium through different art forms is one of the key elements to top tier comics (at least for me). X-Men: Demon Days by Peach Momoko wasn’t legendary because of the action, it was elevated due to art form and subverting reader expectation.

I mentioned it before but Cartmel’s Evening’s Empire is a perfect example of dream-like storytelling visuals and slightly disjointed storytelling. I’m still not done yet but it’s definitely a visual affair. It starts a bit in the middle, some might call it incoherent but later fills in the blanks. I love stuff like that.

All comics aren’t equal, of course. Some really just non-stop action.
