With Zygon Century and Planet Krynoid joining the ranks of Big Finish’s other monster focused spin-offs (Dalek Empire, Cyberman, The Robots, and Sontarans vs Rutans), and there being plenty of non-big finish monster focused audio dramas (BBV’s Zygon, Rutan, and Sontaran to name a few) I figured it’d be fun to hear what people would want from their own monster focused spin-off!
Also for this, we’re ignoring single character ‘Villians’ (like the various Masters, I, Davros, or Cutaway Comics’ Omega) and focusing on ‘Monsters’, I could see a whole separate thread for that if there’s interest.
Anthology series set on a dying world, each of the chapters takes a look at a different part of the world with a completely different group of people, with the Thijarians as a connecting tissue, there to help bring rest as the all the lights on the world slowly go out, some with a bang, some with a whimper.
Don’t know how you make it last more than a single set without some other connective tissue, but love that as an idea for just the one
Vampires I need more Vampires and Gallifrey lore, after I’m done with all the Romana stories, I will go through the whole Vampires trope on here, I love them
A Dream Crab anthology series could be really cool
I wanted to do a joke answer about The Monks but nothing came to mind. Maybe on a serious note for those: a boxset set in the Lie of the Land timeline or a similar one The Monks set up?
A three part audio box set featuring the Monks from Series 10. Set on a planet where the Monks assumed control of the population via consent, it would tell the story of an astronaut who crash lands on the world after the Monks have taken over, and sees the population praising the Monks as their saviours who have always looked out for them, but the astronaut discovers some corruption deep within the Monk society, and everybody he tries to tell about what the Monks are really up to refuses to listen.
It would end Planet Of The Apes-style, with the twist that the planet was Earth all along. There’s a danger it would veer too close to Lie Of The Land, but I think Planet Of The Apes-style story about the Monks could be very cool.
Sonty has started a new job & invited his boss round for dinner. But Rutty is in a bad mood! Can Sonty impress his new boss while trying to avoid Rutty’s assassination attempts? & what about his boss’ nut allergy!
I honestly wouldn’t mind a boxset of 3 episodes showing the events of Flux from the POV of the Lupari, mobilising to protect Earth. There can surely be some nice balance between drama and action, a couple of Sontaran/Lupari battles etc.
Just resist the urge to call it Man’s Best Friend…
Or have them meet the Cat Nuns or Cheetah People and see what happens.
