I’m wondering if they might specify that it has to be a 13 story this year, to celebrate her Big Finish debut. They’ve never specified a single Doctor though so maybe not.

And 2023 was strictly Classic-only. Though I don’t think (?) they specified it couldn’t be a previous Classic Doctor who had an entry already.
But before that they had 10-9-11 in a row so they broke that streak with Hoxteth.

Listening to a few of the other Paul Spragg stories is probably a good shout. They’re free as well and some of them are really good—I liked all of them except the Hoxteth one.
I’d also recommend A Full Life, which is my favourite Short Trip!

I wanted to write for 13 this year but was worried about any extract not strictly having her in (as a way of demonstrating writing ability with a Doctor who has very little material), but I’m kinda glad that she is the theme this year cuz it evens it out.
Like 13 has one exclusive audio-book and that’s insane to me.
